Welcome Back!

Coach Keith Mug is excited for the Forest Hills Swim & Dive Team 2025 season!

Keith has been an educator and swim coach for over twenty years. He is currently a teacher and Head Swim Coach at Chaminade College Preparatory School.

Keith welcomes all returning and new swimmers to the team. 2025 is shaping up to be a great Swim & Dive season!

Philosophy of the Forest Hills Swim & Diving Team

We’re so happy you’ve chosen to join the Forest Hills Swim & Diving Teams. We feel it is important to share with you the philosophy of the teams.

Over the last few years, the number of Forest Hills swim team members has averaged 200 participants, which is much larger than most area country club swim teams. Our head swim coach, Keith Mug, will continue to make every effort to accommodate these numbers, with the two different swim leagues: the Country Club Swim League and the West County Swim League. Keith makes the determination as to which league is appropriate for each swimmer based on the swimmer’s abilities and swim times.

This is the most competitive of the two leagues. At these meets, the strongest swimmers will be competing. This will also hold true for the end of season Country Club Swim League Conference meet.

The West County Swim League

This is a developmental league designed to improve the abilities of all of our swimmers, as well as get them comfortable and ready for a more competitive swim environment.

The individual and team successes of these leagues can be seen in last year’s final numbers: Forest Hills placed 2nd in the West County League, 1st in the Country Club League, and 2nd in Country Club Diving. All children were eligible to swim at a conference meet, most 2 or 3 times, and approximately 95% of those who swam received a plaque reflecting their achievement.

Our experience has been that the children enjoy the Forest Hills Swim Team for exactly what we intend it to be: a positive athletic and social activity for the swimmer, where they can learn new skills and make new friends. Our hope is that, as parents, you will support our efforts and the efforts of the children, bringing about an esprit de corps for this year’s teams, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Code of Conduct

While attending the swim team functions, including home and away meets, and especially the buffets and parties following the home meets, please be mindful of the behavior of your children.

To quote from the Club Rules:

It is the responsibility of the Member or spouse to ensure that their children or the children of their guests are behaving in an acceptable manner when participating in Club events, in the dining facilities/Café, or using Club amenities.

Unacceptable behavior would include, but not limited to; excessive noise, rowdy activities, disrespect to others, offensive language, or misuse of Club property.

We would like to emphasize that the golf course and all tennis courts are off-limits during these functions. This includes Hole #9, the putting green, the short game area, and the driving range.

Please keep in mind that you are responsible for the behavior of your children, and their actions are a reflection of our Club.

Swim Apparel & Embroidery

Swim apparel can be purchased at B & B Aquatics, and can also be purchased at the Junior Sports Expo on Saturday, April 5th, at the Club.

If you would like your child’s swimsuit embroidered, you must order it at the Junior Sports Expo on April 5th, or go into B&B Aquatics by Saturday, May 10th. Swimsuits may still be ordered after this date; however, the deadline for guaranteed embroidery will be Saturday, May 10th .

Personalized caps will be offered this year and can be ordered through B&B Aquatics. Cap orders must also be placed by Saturday, April 19th. Custom caps are not part of the swim team fee; however, one standard cap will be issued and included as part of the swim team fee.

B & B Aquatics is located at 1747 Clarkson Road and can be reached by phone at (636) 519-7946.

Dress Code

When at the pool, Café or attending swim meets, the Club’s dress code as outlined in the Club Rules applies. Swim cover-ups must be worn by everyone when leaving the pool and Café area.

Swim apparel can be purchased at B & B Aquatics. We encourage the swimmers to wear the team suit to all meets and for the team photo. For longer lasting suits, rinse suits in cold water and hang to dry. Caps should also be rinsed, towel dried and a small amount of baby powder should be applied inside and out. Other Forest Hills sportswear is available for purchase but is strictly optional.

Restrooms

The Swim Restrooms are available for use before and during the swim meets. Children under the age of sixteen (16) years are not permitted in the Men’s or Ladies’ Locker Rooms unless accompanied by an adult over the age of eighteen (18). Children of the opposite sex are not permitted in locker rooms if over the age of five (5).

Team Pictures

Team and individual pictures will be taken at the pool on Tuesday, June 10th. This will be in lieu of practice and will be held rain or shine. Your child should wear the team swim suit. Picture packages will be paid for when the pictures are taken and given out at the end-of-the-season banquet.

Participation Fee / Age Limit

The 2025 fee for participation on swim team will be $145 per swimmer. Swimmers MUST be at least three (3) years old by Tuesday, May 27th. All swimmers will receive a swim cap, t-shirt, and trophy.

Swim & Dive Meet Information

Meets held during the week start at 6:00 pm; the swimmers should be ready to warm-up by 5:45 pm. The meets last approximately two hours. Munchkins swim all meets, home and away, except the Conference meets.

The Dive Team meets are in conjunction with the Swim Team meets. They are scheduled so that children can participate on both the dive and the swim teams. Diving meets are held prior to the Country Club League swim meets and begin at 5:00 pm. Divers should arrive at 4:30 pm.

The day of the meet, Coach Keith will post the swimmers for the meet on the pool bulletin board and in SwimTopia. Relay swims are at the end of each meet. Every effort will be made to ensure each child swims at least two events per meet.

Coach Keith needs to know the availability of swimmers for meets each week. The commitment deadline is at noon on the Monday of meet week. Please review the schedule in the manual and update your swimmer’s availability at the beginning of the season. Parents must declare a swimmer’s availability by noon on Monday of meet week. A swimmer is assumed to be unavailable unless a parent updates a swimmer’s availability in SwimTopia. Providing the coach as much notice as possible will ensure everyone on the team is provided the most opportunities to swim.

After evening home meets, the Club offers a fun family buffet on the lower patio. Charges for these dinners will be reflected on your monthly statements. Many of the other clubs also offer similar arrangements and Forest Hills members are welcome to attend. Your charges at other clubs will be sent back to Forest Hills and appear on your monthly billing statement. Be sure to write Forest Hills on the tickets you sign and neatly print your name and Club number. The attire for the parents at the meets is country club casual.

Every effort is made to complete a meet as scheduled, given the short length of our season. The start of a meet may be delayed, but rarely are meets canceled. Normally, a meet would only be canceled if lightning was present at the hosting pool. In the event of inclement weather, the coaches will not decide to cancel a meet until 7:00 pm. If a meet has been canceled, an email will be delivered to the entire swim & dive team.

The end-of-season Conference meets are held on the last weekend of the swim team season. There will be a special practice scheduled on the Friday evening before the Conference Swim Meets. Be sure not to miss this fun event!

Swim & Dive Team Banquet

The Swim & Dive Team Banquet is held at Forest Hills after all the Conference Meets have finished. At the banquet, the coaches will give a presentation and hand out team awards. Following the awards ceremony, there will be dancing and DJ entertainment. This is a fun evening for both parents and children who participated in the Swim & Dive Team Program. Be sure to sign up on ForeTees in advance if planning to attend.
