An exciting clash at the top end of the National League table graces The New Lawn as Forest Green Rovers welcome Barnet.
Barnet (3rd) lasted visited The New Lawn back in 2017 for an exciting 2-2 draw in what was Rovers first ever game in the Football League.
In our last meeting with the Bees right back at the start of the season, Rovers fell to a late 1-0 defeat courtesy of a Zak Brunt strike.
The Bees have enjoyed a successful season so far spending the majority of time around the top of the table and currently sit thirdjust one point behind second placed Rovers and leaders York City.
Despite a run of three straight draws in the league, the Bees are enjoying a 10-game unbeaten run in the league with their last defeat coming back in October at the hands of York.
Goals have been no issue for the Bees as they sit as the league’s top scorers on 51 goals so far this season but have recently lost their top scorer, Nicke Kabamba, who joined League Two’s, Bromley, after firing 11 goals this season for the Bees.
But manager, Dean Brennan, has been blessed with attacking gems all over the park with forward Callum Stead on eight goals for the season and midfielders, Ryan Glover Zak Brunt and Mark Shelton all on six goals currently.
Brennan himself has been with the club since 2021 starting as the Bees Director of Football before taking over as caretaker manager in the September of 2021.
After a successful caretaker spell, the Irishman took on the role full time in 2022 and has since guided the Bees to back-toback play-off campaigns.
Following their trip to Nailsworth the Bees travel to Southend United on Saturday before their first home game of 2025 when they face Maidenhead United.
Formed in 1888 as an amateur organisation, they played at a ground in Queen’s Road until disbanding in 1901 following an FA inquiry. Rival team, Barnet Avenue, took over the name in 1903 and then merged with Barnot Alston FC in 1912. The newly formed club was called Barnet & Alston FC, until 1919, when it would eventually become simply Barnet FC.
Barnet’s logo does feature the original chief with the crossed swords and the two roses, but the large building from the shield has been replaced by a football and two corner flags in club colours, set on what may seem like a pitch but is in fact a reference to a hill.
After spending one hundred and six years at their Underhill ground, Barnet moved to the Hive Stadium in 2013 and have played their home matches at The Hive ever since.
