Forest Green Rovers welcome FC Halifax Town to The New Lawn with The Shaymen’s last visit coming back in 2016.

Shaquille McDonald’s 70th-minute goal earned the Shaymen a 1-0 win on their last visit to Nailsworth, giving Halifax their fourth win over Rovers in 12 meetings.

Our visitors arrive at The New Lawn in good form winning both of their last two fixtures 1-0, over Yeovil Town and Woking, whilst also suffering just two defeats in their last seven league games.

That sort of form sees the Shaymen occupy seventh in the National League after 18 games played, a position they are very familiar with.

Last season, manager Chris Millington guided his side to a seventh-place finish qualifying for the play-offs losing to eventual finalists, Solihull Moors.

Millington’s sides form and position is even more impressive as they are the lowest-

scoring team in the top 17 sides with just 20 goals in 18 games.

Team unity might be the key to their success with the goals being shared out among the squad as Billy Waters, Jamie Cooke and Florent Hoti all lead the charts with three goals each.

These players would be worth keeping an eye on but the Shaymen’s most productive player in the league comes from the back in 22-year-old centre-back, Adam Senior.

The former Bolton Wanderers product has notched up two goals and three assists in 18 appearances whilst also helping in six clean sheets so far this season.

Following their trip to Nailsworth, the Shaymen face a tough run of fixtures starting with a home fixture against Southend United on Saturday.

A clash with the Shrimpers comes in the wake of four straight away games beginning in the FA Trophy against Basford United before tricky league trips to Aldershot Town, Barnet and Altrincham in December.

Established

In 2007, the club was placed into administration by a local consortium trying to buy the club.

The club was re-formed by the same directors of the previous legal entity under the name FC Halifax Town and was accepted to play in the Northern Premier League Division One North in the 2008/09 season.

Crest

Halifax Town's traditional colours are blue and white. The shield in the centre is a call back to the club's previous incarnation and the white flower has been a consistent theme throughout the club's different emblems.

Stadium

The ground is set into the side of a hill which gives it an enclosed but very green look. It was originally constructed during the 2001/02 season, but due to financial problems it was left unfinished for some years, before the work re-commenced in 2009, with the stand finally opening in 2010.
