Ryan 10 Minutes with Inniss

Representing England, witnessing one of the greatest Premier League goals and revealing who at Rovers he’d rather not be stuck on an island with, get to know our rock at the back, Ryan Inniss ahead of our clash with AFC Fylde.

Best moment in football?

I represented England Under 16’s and I scored the winning goal live on Sky. It was pretty fun going into school the next day after winning the Victory Shield!

Best player you’ve played with or against?

I’ve played against a few great ones in cameo appearances but a fantastic player I played with fairly recently would be Jesurun Rak-Sakyi at Charlton Athletic.

Stadium you’ve played at with the best atmosphere?

When I played Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, right before kick-off they sing that song (Hi-Ho Silver Lining) and it’s probably the loudest I’ve heard.

Best goal you’ve seen live?

[Pajtim] Kasami when he scored that stunning chest and volley against Crystal Palace. It was outrageous. I think I was a ballboy that day.

Hobbies outside of football?

Walking and since being here, I go to gardens, museums and places like that. I’m quite boring as I don’t play Football Manager anymore and my PlayStation is in the bin!

Favourite place you’ve visited?

Mykonos because of the food. You can just roam around, do some nice sight-seeing and really chill out.

One thing you can’t live without?

My friends and family.

Best friends at FGR?

Teddy [Jenks] is my roommate so I’m very close with him and have got a lot closer to him this year, but I am pretty close with everyone, though.

Your matchday playlist?

The playlist is usually left to Manny [Osadebe] because he has pretty good taste, but sometimes I listen to TalkSport on the way in!

Teammates you’d least like to be stuck on an island with?

Ooo, tough one. I think Charlie McCann, Marcel Lavinier and Fiachra Pagel because he’s a big lad and would eat all the food!

AUGUST ROUNDUP

WHAT AN OPENING MONTH TO THE 24/25

VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE SEASON FOR FOREST GREEN ROVERS, AS WE PICKED UP 11 POINTS FROM SIX MATCHES IN WHICH FIVE WERE AWAY FROM HOME.

August saw Steve Cotterill and his side record three memorable wins, two hard-fought draws and a narrow defeat which sees Rovers occupy a playoff spot.

Rovers opened the season with a 3-3 draw at Aldershot Town thanks to a first Rovers goal from Ryan Inniss and second half goals from Christian Doidge and Kyle McAllister.

Next up was a trip to newly promoted, Boston United which saw Liam Sercombe’s long-range effort win the Oatly Goal of the Month and place a contender for goal of the season when he scored from the halfway line in our 4-0 victory.

Barnet away was the next challenge, where a 93rd minute goal saw FGR lose out on all three points in our 1-0 defeat, before we travelled to Rochdale and earned a valuable point in a goalless draw.

Rovers finally returned to The New Lawn on Bank Holiday Monday where a crowd of 1,982 (141 away) - higher than last season’s opening home attendance of 1,936, witnessed Charlie McCann’s 94th minute winner in a 2-1 victory over Altrincham.

McCann was the hero again in our final game of August, scoring late to earn Rovers a 2-1 win over Sutton United.

The team scored 11 goals in six matches with five of them coming from our record goalscorer Doidge. This earned him Quorn Star Player of the Month as voted for by the fans.

Y L F Opposition The

EDFor the first time in our history, Rovers face off with AFC Fylde as we welcome the Coasters as our second visitors to The New Lawn this season.

The Lancashire based side survived the drop during the final days of the 2023/24 season finishing three points above the relegation zone after winning the National League North title the previous season.

Chris Beech was the man that led the Coasters to survival after taking charge last December winning 13 and drawing seven of his 32 games in charge but has seen a grey patch of form at the beginning of this season.

The Coasters opened the campaign with a 3-2 win over Solihull Moors but have since been winless.

Goals were no issue for the Coasters last season as they were, considering their

18th-place finish - joint-fifth top scorers in the National League finding the net on 74 occasions with the majority of their goals coming from attacking midfielder, Nick Houghton.

Houghton scored 18 goals in 43 league appearances last term which included four in his final six matches, helping his side remain in the National League and has carried that form into this season having already found the net five times in six games.

To help the Coasters in their quest to better last season’s finish, Beech delved into the transfer market to strengthen his squad bringing in 20-year-old winger, Tyler Roberts on loan from Wolves, defender Joe Riley from Walsall and forward Offrande Zanzala from Newport County.

Beech lost a handful of players during the summer with notable departures being promising defender Connor Barrett to Walsall and forward Luke Charman to Hartlepool United.

Established

The club was formed by the amalgamation of Kirkham Town FC and Wesham FC in 1988. By taking this name, the club was adopting the name of a previous club which had played in the West Lancashire League in the years immediately before the First World War.

Crest

AFC Fylde made a fresh start in the summer of 2014 and needed a new crest design. The club wanted the new crest to signify the heritage of the Fylde borough. The four symbols represent major landmarks around the Fylde area.

Stadium

Mill Farm - In 2005 AFC Fylde purchased land in Kellemargh, Warton and began to develop the facilities. They relocated to their new ground which was purpose-built to meet the requirement for playing in the North West Counties League at a cost of £150,000.
