The Pampa ISD Board of Trustees is represented by seven elected individuals who volunteer their time for four year terms. Trustees must reside within the Pampa ISD boundaries. The Pampa ISD Board of Trustees holds regular meetings on the fourth Monday of each month at the Pampa ISD Administration building, located at 1233 North Hobart. The school board reviews and votes on matters such as school policies, curriculum, budget, staffing, and building maintenance. Board authority is defined by federal and state law and the regulations set by the Texas State Board of Education.

Meeting agendas are posted at the Administration building and on the District website. The Board recognizes student and staff achievements each month during the “Spotlight on Excellence.” Family members are invited to attend.

Parent Communication At Pampa ISD, Parent Communication is one of our most important goals. We love to share news about our students and communicate campus/district information. The district has moved all of our Parent/Student communication to the platform, ParentSquare. We are very excited about the features that ParentSquare gives us. Please download the ParentSquare app and set your notifications to your preferred time. If you prefer to receive notifications/communications at the end of your day, select digest. You will have access to all of your student’s campus and district information at your fingertips. You will be able to communicate with teachers and staff through this platform. Pampa ISD Attendance Requirements Attending school every day and arriving on time is crucial to a student’s academic success!

School Hours: Pre-K and Elementary 7:45 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

PJHS/PHS: 8:05 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.

What is an excused absence?

• Personal Illness.

• Observance of a religious holy day.

• Documented health care appointments. A note from the health care provider must be submitted upon the student’s returen to campus. The student must attend a portion of school on the same day.

What if I need to miss school?

• If a student is absent, the parent or guardian must call the school that day to report the reason for the absence or complete the absence form in the ParentSquare app.

• For additional guidance on excused absences, please contact your campus.

It’s Texas State Law! • State law requires that students attend class regularly to receive credit.

• Ten or more unexcused absences in a six-month period could result in a complaint of Parent-Contributing Non-Attendance being filed in the Justice of Peace Court.

Here are some facts about Absenteeism! (from AttenanceWorks.org) • Absenteeism in the first month of school can predict poor attendance throughout the school year. Half the students who miss 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school.

• Absenteeism and its ill effects start early.

• Poor attendance can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of third grade or be held back.

• By 6th grade, chronic absenteeism becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.

• Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school year, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.

• When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.

Special Populations

Transportation Our Transportation Department strives to achieve customer satisfaction by providing safe, timely, and efficient transportation that contributes to the educational success of all students through staff committed to excellence and continuous improvement.

Families with younger children should practice walking to their assigned bus stops together and help their children memorize their bus numbers and school name.

Parents should also write down their child’s stop location and school name and place it in a safe location accessible to the student. Ensure that your child knows their bus number and school name. Pampa ISD does not offer transportation for Pre K/Head Start students.

To request transportation, parents need to complete the Bus Rider Request Form accessed by using the Transportation Link.

NOTE: Transportation department personnel cannot enter or edit information in the district’s student database. For address changes, parents should contact the registrar at their child’s campus.

Health Services In the case of injuries or illnesses during the school day, Health Services are available at every campus. The parent or guardian listed in the enrollment application will be contacted when an injury or illness occurs. Please list additional emergency phone numbers when completing the emergency contact information during the online enrollment process. Parents or guardians should contact their student’s school with any changes to emergency contact numbers.

All prescribed and over the counter medications to be given at school will require written authorization signed by the physician and parent. For more information, contact your school nurse or the District Nurse, Tamara Gutierrez at tamara. gutierrez@pampaisd.net.

The Pampa ISD Special Populations Department serves students with disabilities. Our goal is to provide students with the skills and tools they need to be their best in the classroom and to prepare them for life after graduation. Pampa ISD offers a continuum of services for students with disabilities based on the individual student’s needs which are determined collaboratively by parents and school personnel. Immunizations All students shall be immunized according to the Texas school immunization requirements. Please visit their website for additional information, www.dshs.state.tx.us.

Exclusions from compliance are allowable for medical contradictions or reasons of conscience. The school nurse can provide guidance on age-appropriate immunization schedules. Acceptable proof of immunization includes a physician-validated history of illness or personal immunization records from a licensed physician or public health clinic.

A student who meets one of the following criteria may be provisionally enrolled: • Transferring from one Texas public school to another.

• The student is defined as homeless according to the federal McKinney Vento Act. • The student has received at least one dose of each specified age-appropriate vaccine and is on schedule to receive subsequent doses. The student must complete the next dose to be considered provisional.

To remain enrolled, the student must complete the required subsequent doses in each vaccine series on schedule and as rapidly as medically feasible and provide acceptable evidence of vaccination to the school.

Senate Bill 12

Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), passed during the 89th Texas Legislative Session and effective September 1, 2025, mandates that Texas public school districts obtain annual, written parental consent before providing non-emergency routine nursing care and mental health counseling services to students, and student participation in clubs. The law shifts from an implied consent model to an active, documented consent model, requiring districts to secure permission for school nurses, counselors, and athletic trainers to treat students. This form is included in the annual student forms and must be completed before the start of school.

The Gray County Public Health District will continue to immunize students interested in a Covid-19 vaccine, including those who are on Medicaid, do not have health insurance or are under insured. For more information contact the Gray County DHHS at (806) 802-7002.

Parents who have CHIPS, private or commercial insurance will need to see their medical provider for more information on school required vaccines.

Fuel the Day with Good Nutrition!

Breakfast and Lunch All Pampa ISD campus cafeterias participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP).

Parents and guardians will need to complete a Free/Reduced Meal Application each year to determine your student(s) eligibility. You will be notified by letter from the Child Nutrition office about the determination of your student(s) eligibility. Applications are available at the Child Nutrition office, Pampa ISD website, and online at https://www.paypams.com/Online/App and at each school campus office.

Paying for school meals or á la carte food items is convenient and fast with our online service. Parents and school staff have the opportunity to prepay online through https://www.paypams.com/Online/App. By creating a secure online account, parents can easily manage their student’s cafeteria account.

Additional benefits of the online service include viewing purchase history, low balance and expired credit card notification and auto-pay options. MasterCard, Visa and Discover are accepted. Cash or checks will also continue to be accepted at the school cafeterias or the Child Nutrition office.

Student Sign-In/Sign Out As parents, we understand the importance of keeping our children safe and secure at school. For the 26-27 school year, we will be utilizing the Raptor Visitor Management System for our schools to maintain a secure environment while providing parents with a seamless and efficient way to manage their child’s attendance. It’s a simple yet effective solution to enhance student safety and accountability. This system will replace the previous process where students were signed in and out on a paper log.

Parents/guardians and community members interested in volunteering on PISD campuses or at school/district functions will need to complete the online annual VIPS application. Pampa ISD is required by law to conduct annual background checks for all volunteers.

Once approved, the PISD Family/Community Engagement office will contact the volunteer about receiving their badge. Volunteers can renew their VIPS application on an annual basis. Apply to be a volunteer at www.pampaisd.net or by scanning the QR Code.

PAMPA ISD ATHLETICS Athletics is an important part of Pampa ISD’s district curriculum and strategic design. With over 22 different sports, Pampa ISD student participation in a variety of team and individual sports is at an all time high.

A+ Information for Academic Success!

Grading Pampa ISD distributes progress reports and report cards during and at the end of the grading period to notify parents/ guardians about their student’s academic performance. Parents can also log in to the Ascender Parent Portal through the website, www.pampaisd.net or through the QR code below. All academic subject grades 4th-12th are based on a numerical scale of 0-100. Any grade below 70 is failing. Pre-K/Head Start through 3rd Grade are standards-based. The district’s grading guidelines are available at each campus and on the Pampa ISD website under the Parents and Students tab.

No Pass/No Play Policy Under the state’s “no pass/no play” law, a student must pass all courses for the previous reporting period to be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities.

Failure to meet this requirement eliminates a student from competition or performance. The student is allowed to practice or rehearse with other students. For more information on grading and report cards, contact individual campuses.

Report Cards Pampa Junior High and Pampa High School provide report cards six times during the school year. All elementary campuses provide report cards 4 times a year. Parents/guardians should receive the report cards shortly after the grading period ends (six weeks for secondary and nine weeks for elementary).

Graduation Requirements Students meet their graduation requirements by completing the required number of credits and passing five statewide end-ofcourse exams in the areas of English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology and U.S. History. Students may customize their high school experience beyond the Foundation High School Program by completing requirements for additional components such as endorsements, the distinguished level of achievement, and performance acknowledgments.

Students can choose from five endorsement areas which include: Arts and Humanities; Business and Industry; Public Services; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); or Multidisciplinary Studies. Courses within each endorsement are designed to prepare students for college and career opportunities in their program interest.

At Pampa ISD, School Safety Matters!

Pampa ISD is committed to providing safe school environments. We are taking significant steps to provide those safe environments through additional security personnel, training for staff, and evaluation of our facilities. We have school resource officers who will be completely focused on school safety. Increased security at the campus level includes visitor guidelines and background checks. Parents are encouraged to register as a VIPS (Volunteer in Pampa Schools) at the beginning of the school year to make campus visits and volunteer opportunities easier.

Report Bullying Incidents Pampa ISD strictly prohibits bullying on school property, at school-related activities or in any vehicle operated by the district. Bullying may include verbal or written expression, expression through electronic means or physical conduct.

Bullying is not tolerated in PISD. Anyone who believes a student has experienced bullying or has engaged in bullying should report the incident immediately. Retaliation against anyone involved in the reporting process is a violation of district policy.

• Bullying can be reported orally or in writing to a teacher, school counselor, principal or other district employee.

• Bullying reports may be submitted through the Anonymous Alerts Incident Reporting System. (See page 13.)

What is the Anonymous Alerts app?

The Anonymous Alerts Incident Reporting System empowers students and community members to speak up and submit tips securely and safely to school officials.

Anonymous 2-Way Communications®

The system allows report submitters (students, parents, staff, or community members) to engage in anonymous 2-way communications® with school and district officials to share additional information about their concerns. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or reveal their identity when submitting a report.

All Tip reports and communications are encrypted for privacy and security.

How does it work?

To use Anonymous Alerts, students, parents, or other school personnel can visit the Anonymous Alerts web application reporting form or download the mobile application available on Apple or Android. Students may also have access to the Anonymous Alerts reporting tools from their school-issued devices.

Emergency Information Emergencies that require police assistance should be reported immediately to 9-1-1.

In addition, Pampa ISD Student Resource Officer Services can be reached by calling 806-669-4700.

The Superintendent with the support of the Director of Student Services will determine whether a school will close due to bad weather or other emergencies.

Emergencies and Drills Pampa ISD is committed to the safety and security of students, staff and visitors on its campuses. The district will continue to follow the Standard Response Protocal and its emergency actions of Lockout, Lock-down, Evacuate and Shelterin-Place.

Guardian Plan Program Pampa ISD participates in The Guardian Plan. Under the Guardian Plan, a district can grant qualified personnel permission to carry firearms on campuses through an agreement. The Board desires to ensure the safety of students, school personnel, and visitors, by authorizing a limited number of qualified District employees (“Guardians”) to possess certain CONCEALED firearms on school property to provide an effective and timely response to an emergency situation that poses an immediate threat to serious bodily injury and/or death.

Pampa ISD is able to offer a parental control app for free that can be installed on your student’s personal devices. The Qustodio Parent App allows you to set screen time limits, filter content, manage app access, and monitor YouTube usage on a personal device.

Ascender Parent Portal provides web access to school-related information about your students, including attendance, grades, discipline, assessments, and immunizations.

All participants have gone through multiple in-depth trainings and evaluations to become certified as Texas School Guardians. There will be ongoing required training for all guardians.
