Welcome to Pampa ISD!
Hugh Piatt II Pampa ISD Superintendent
Welcome Harvesters! I hope you all had a relaxing summer vacation and are looking forward with enthusiasm to the 2022-2023 school year. A special welcome to the families who are new to Pampa! We are happy to serve you and your child beginning with our Back to School Bash on Thursday, August 11th and our first day of school on Wednesday, August 17th. I am thankful for our loving and caring community that have supported us throughout the pandemic of the last two years. We have all learned the importance of being resilient and flexible, how to adapt and act quickly, and that we all need each other. Our promise to you is that the PISD staff will do our utmost to celebrate our students’ successes and will be there, with empathy and support, when trials occur. Our highest priority is the safety of our students. No one can learn at their highest level if they do not feel safe and secure. As such, we have added two additional school resource officers for this year, along with a School Safety and Security Program. We have an obligation to our students to help them prepare for a world that is increasingly more competitive, global, and complex. As our vision states, “Pampa ISD students are courageous innovators utilizing their own unique abilities to invest in their world.” Through tireless effort and encouragement, our staff will work to ensure our mission of producing learners who are compassionate, competent, confident, and future-ready! We look forward to partnering with our families as we engage in the process. Our priorities for the year will be centered on literacy, processes and procedures that help ensure deeper learning, social emotional health of our students, and attendance. As you know, students cannot learn if they are not present at school. Attendance is crucial to the success of your student. We know that children get sick and will need to stay home at times. Please do your best to help your child arrive on time and schedule appointments after school or on days when students are not scheduled to be at school. It is an honor to serve our kids and community. Please look for ways to get involved and support our Harvesters. Pampa is a tremendous place and it will continue to progress as we share experiences and draw closer together. Thank you for choosing Pampa ISD and for entrusting our staff with the care of your child.

School Safety Matters Pampa ISD is committed to providing safe school environments. We are taking significant steps to provide those safe environments through additional security personnel, training for staff, and evaluation of our facilities. We have added 2 additional school resource officers who will be completely focused on school safety. This will now provide three officers for the district in 2022-2023. Increased security at the campus level includes visitor guidelines and background checks. Breakfast and Lunch
Health Services
All Pampa ISD campus cafeterias participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP). Parents and guardians will need to complete a Free/Reduced Meal Application each year to determine your student(s) eligibility. You will be notified by letter from the Child Nutrition office about the determination of your student(s) eligibility. Applications are available at the Child Nutrition office, Pampa ISD website, and online at https://www. paypams.com/Online/App and at each school campus office. Child Nutrition Link
Paypams Paying for school meals or á la carte food items is convenient and fast with our online service. Parents and school staff have the opportunity to prepay online through https://www.paypams. com/Online/App. By creating a secure online account, parents can easily manage their student’s cafeteria account. Additional benefits of the online service include viewing purchase history, low balance and expired credit card notification and auto-pay options. MasterCard, Visa and Discover are accepted. Cash or checks will also continue to be accepted at the school cafeterias or the Child Nutrition office.
Transportation Our Transportation Department strives to achieve customer satisfaction by providing safe, timely, and efficient transportation that contributes to the educational success of all students through staff committed to excellence and continuous improvement. Families with younger children should practice walking to their assigned bus stops together and help their children memorize their bus numbers and school name. Parents should also write down their child’s stop location and school name and place it in a safe location accessible to the student. Ensure that your child knows their bus number and school name.
Transportation Link
Parents and guardians are encouraged to download the Ride360 app to know the location of their student’s bus. NOTE: Transportation department personnel cannot enter or edit information in the district’s student database. For address changes, parents should contact the registrar at their child’s campus.
In the case of injuries or illnesses during the school day, a school nurse is available at every campus. The parent or guardian listed in the enrollment application will be contacted when an injury or illness occurs. Please list additional emergency phone numbers when completing the emergency contact information during the online enrollment process. Parents or guardians should contact their student’s school with any changes to emergency contact numbers. All prescribed and over the counter medications to be given at school will require written authorization signed by the physician and parent. For more information, contact your school nurse or the District Nurse, Tamara Gutierrez at tamara.gutierrez@pampaisd.net.
Immunizations
All students shall be immunized according to the Texas school immunization requirements. Please visit their website for additional information, www.dshs.state. tx.us. The Covid-19 vaccine is not currently a required immunization. However, Pampa ISD does encourage all parents and guardians to consider getting the Covid-19 vaccine. Exclusions from compliance are allowable for medical contradictions or reasons of conscience. The school nurse can provide guidance on age-appropriate immunization schedules. Acceptable proof of immunization includes a physician-validated history of illness or personal immunization records from a licensed physician or public health clinic. A student who meets one of the following criteria may be provisionally enrolled: • Transferring from one Texas public school to another. • The student is defined as homeless according to the federal McKinney Vento Act. • The student has received at least one dose of each specified age-appropriate vaccine and is on schedule to receive subsequent doses. The student must complete the next dose to be considered provisional. To remain enrolled, the student must complete the required subsequent doses in each vaccine series on schedule and as rapidly as medically feasible and provide acceptable evidence of vaccination to the school. The Gray County Public Health District will continue to immunize students interested in a Covid-19 vaccine, including those who are on Medicaid, do not have health insurance or are under insured. For more information contact the Gray County DHHS at (806) 802-7002. Parents who have CHIPS, private or commercial insurance will need to see their medical provider for more information on school required vaccines. For more information regarding immunization requirements, contact your school nurse or the District Nurse, Tamara Gutierrez at tamara.gutierrez@pampaisd.net.
