ABOUT US Forefront Living Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization and is the philanthropic arm of Forefront Living. The foundation raises, invests and distributes funds for the purpose of supporting Presbyterian Village North, Faith Presbyterian Hospice and the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center. With a shared legacy in business and healthcare innovation, our family of care-oriented organizations blends values built on compassion and faith with high-quality senior care, longterm care, memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation therapies, as well as hospice and palliative care.

LETTER FROM TIM MALLAD The years between 2020 and 2022 were a critical juncture for Forefront Living. It was a time of introspection and strategic evaluation when we embraced proactive approaches and evolved as an organization. Despite the uncertainty happening around us, our collective resilience propelled Forefront Living toward a future filled with growth and innovation. Forefront Living Foundation evolved and grew along with Presbyterian Village North (PVN) and Faith Presbyterian Hospice. The foundation team rose to the occasion and continued to strive and promote our vision while we entered a period of deep engagement with our stakeholders evaluating our goals and opportunities. We are deeply appreciative for your unwavering support during this time of introspection. Because of you, wonderful and meaningful things happened. Our caring funds continued to provide charitable support for Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Families and children continued to receive exceptional grief counseling, and donors helped to ensure the grounds and building on the T. Boone Pickens campus remained pristine.
Looking ahead, we are excited about opening the Bezos Academy, a tuition-free Montessori inspired preschool at Presbyterian Village North, expanding grief support services at Faith Presbyterian Hospice and the opening of the Outlook at Windhaven in 2024, a milestone that will expand our reach and impact in Plano, Texas. We are also laying the groundwork for the seniors of San Antonio, Texas with the establishment of Bella Vida at La Cantera on the horizon. LETTER FROM DIANE FULLINGIM As I reviewed the content for the 2022 Annual Report, I was struck by the many meaningful moments you made possible in 2022. The experiences shared — from the gathering of Faithful Friends to engage in important end-oflife conversations to the selfless, dedication of volunteers supporting and comforting grieving families, to those who make gifts in honor of the loved ones they’ve lost — they all inspire me. I am equally overwhelmed by the generosity of donors who wholeheartedly contribute to the Each Moment Matters Luncheon benefiting Faith Presbyterian Hospice, these individuals truly exemplify the essence of the remarkable city we call home. As the newly appointed Forefront Living Foundation Executive Director, I am deeply honored to be a part of such an extraordinarily generous community. Your unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others is heartening, and I am excited to embark on this journey together. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every donor for partnering with us in the mission. Your gifts in 2022 provided nearly 4,500 days of charitable hospice care to unfunded patients and bereavement support services to more than 450 grieving children. Your compassion and generosity made a tangible difference, bringing solace to those in need during their most vulnerable moments. Looking ahead, I am filled with anticipation and enthusiasm. I am eager to be part of the collective impact we will create as we join forces, harness our passion and continue to make each moment matter for those we serve. RESHAPING THE END-OF-LIFE CONVERSATION WITH FAITHFUL FRIENDS On April 7, 2022, the Faithful Friends affinity group gathered in person, after two years of virtual meetings due to the pandemic, for a program discussing the importance of hospice. Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH) teammates, Morgan Gillis, Rhonda Taylor-Blair and Elise Power, shared ways to approach the often difficult end-of-life conversation with loved ones. The presentation was supported by a ‘Conversation Guide’ handout used to help facilitate these discussions. In addition to the program, attendees had an opportunity to socialize with each other and learn more about the organization while enjoying a delicious assortment of hors d’oeuvres and refreshing cocktails. Faithful Friends is an engagement group of philanthropic-minded individuals born out of your desire to connect to FPH and give back to the community. The purpose of Faithful Friends is to increase awareness, promote volunteerism and engagement, while providing advocacy and supporting the mission of FPH. “The Outlook at Windhaven continues to enjoy great interest from Plano, and surrounding area seniors,” said Tim Mallad, CEO of Forefront Living. “We look forward to 2024 when construction will be complete, and The Outlook at Windhaven will be home to a thriving community of people.” The Outlook at Windhaven will be a gated community offering 153 independent living apartment homes, 30 independent living cottage homes, 32 assisted living apartment homes and 24 memory support suites. The independent living apartments will feature 14 unique floor plans ranging from 900-1,950 square feet. The independent living cottages will feature two distinct floor plan options ranging from 1,800-2,000 square feet and will include front porches, private courtyards and attached garages. Additionally, the campus will showcase a state-of-the-art clubhouse with dining, fitness, entertainment and other lifestyle amenities.
FOREFRONT LIVING BREAKS GROUND AT THE OUTLOOK
“We engaged a stellar group of seasoned and experienced partners to help design and build a senior living community that blends casual elegance with the richness of nature,” continued Mallad. “Our team represents the best and the brightest in the senior living industry, and we are proud to bring this community as well as more than 120 new jobs to Plano.”
Forefront Living broke ground in June of 2022 on its newest senior living community, The Outlook at Windhaven. The community is located on the former site of Haggard Farms, an 18.2-acre creekside location at West Spring Creek Parkway and Windhaven Parkway, near Windhaven Meadows Park in Plano, TX.

FAITH FAMILIES ATTEND BEREAVEMENT CAMP During the summer, twelve special families packed up their cars and headed to East Texas to share a memorable camping weekend. However, this camping experience ran deeper than traditional campfires, s’mores, chasing fireflies and stargazing. These families sought solace and joy from the great outdoors after suffering the loss of a loved one. Forefront Living Foundation and teammates were honored to partner with Eluna, the founding organization for Camp Erin®, the largest national bereavement program for children and teens ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Led by bereavement professionals and caring volunteers, the camp is offered at no cost to families and provides a safe environment to explore their grief, learn essential coping skills and make friends with peers who are also grieving. Because of this partnership with Eluna, campers and their family members were able to attend Camp Erin DFW as part of the organization’s first family camp program. Nestled in the Piney Woods of East Texas, Camp Gilmont was the perfect setting for Camp Erin DFW, allowing these extraordinary families to unplug and spend time together while participating in games, ziplining, hiking, canoeing and swimming. The serene backdrop also provided an ideal location for therapeutic group sessions, where families shared their grief and participated in healing experiences. While the weekend was filled with many wonderful moments, the memorial activities sprinkled throughout the camping experience were especially unforgettable. An introductory Memory Board Ceremony provided campers with a unique platform to share memories and a favorite photo of those they wanted to remember. During group therapy sessions, children

and adults decorated luminaries honoring their lost loved ones. On Saturday evening, as the sun was setting and silence encompassed the wooded retreat, campers observed a solemn event in which they took turns releasing their luminaries over the lake near their campsite. As part of the weekend’s closing ceremony, participants hiked to the “Chapel in the Sky,” where they enjoyed a magnificent view of the entire campground and beyond. There, families tied a piece of colorful, torn fabric with their loved one’s name written on it, to a camp “memory catcher.” These moving and emotional activities directed by trained professionals, helped to normalize the grief experience for the children, reminding them that they are not alone.

2022 EACH MOMENT MATTERS LUNCHEON SUCCESS The 13th Annual Each Moment Matters Luncheon (EMM) held on September 23, raised more than $600,000 for the Faith Presbyterian Hospice Caring Fund (The Caring Fund), supporting benevolent care for unfunded patients, children’s bereavement services and specialized services known as the “Faith Difference”, including music therapy, massage therapy and pet therapy. Accomplished, philanthropic volunteers, Tucker Enthoven and Julie Ford, co-chaired the signature fundraising event. The mother/daughter duo share a personal connection to Faith Presbyterian Hospice for the care a close family friend received through their services. More than 500 guests filled the beautifully decorated Chantilly Ballroom at the Hilton Anatole to hear from featured speaker Dr. BJ Miller. In addition to being a hospice and palliative care physician, Dr. Miller is well known for his incredibly popular TED Talk “What Really Matters at the End of Life.” For the luncheon, his thought-provoking keynote message suggested that healing is often greater than curing, and he encouraged audience members to practice discernment over judgement. He reminded us that life is precious and grief is good. “What makes anything precious is that it ends.” – BJ Miller In addition to the inspirational speaker, EMM recognized seven impactful individuals for their meaningful service contributions to the greater Dallas community. The 2022 EMM honorees included: Ben Casey Jr. (posthumous), Sandra Esquivel, Walter J. Levy, Richard Miles, Jadona Sides, Brenda Snitzer and Darrell Thompson. The Forefront Living Foundation is grateful to each supporter and volunteer who gave of their time or talents to help make this year’s luncheon an enormous success.

GRIEVING FAMILIES RECEIVE THE GIFT OF CHRISTMAS MAGIC During the month of December, Blue Print Store and Gallery adopted 31 grieving children from ten different families through their connection with Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH) and provided them with the magical gift of Christmas. Each child recently lost a close family member and needed extra support during the holiday season. Blue Print and their generous customers collected donations and were able to give each child just what they asked for and more! The dedicated group of Blue Print teammates delivered more than 500 gifts to the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center on December 21. These gifts were sorted, boxed and ready to be distributed to the appropriate families. FPH teammates played Santa by personally delivering the gifts to each family and were welcomed with tears of joy, hugs, smiles and expressions of relief. One young mother shared that she planned to tell her teenage sons that the gifts were from the local community because, “they need to know that even though their father isn’t here, they are surrounded by a loving community that cares for them.” Another family member stated, “I wasn’t expecting to raise my niece and nephews. But they provided more than gifts – they gave us our first holiday together as a new family.” “Blue Print has been so incredibly generous. We are grateful for them and their generous customers who purchased gifts our children specifically asked for and it is extremely powerful when a child feels heard and seen. Blue Print went above and beyond our expectations. When they learned that one family recently lost their Christmas tree and ornaments due to a house fire, they also gifted a new Christmas tree,” shared Sarah Jones, Forefront Living Foundation Philanthropy Coordinator. While nothing that can be purchased or wrapped could fill the hole they have in their hearts, support from Blue Print and the team at FPH, ensured that Christmas was not empty. Our most sincere thanks are extended to the team and customers at Blue Print for bringing JOY to these families.

FPH HOSTS WINTER NIGHT’S MEMORIAL For the first time since COVID began, the bereavement team at Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH), held an in-person Winter’s Night Memorial in the Spiritual Care Center of the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center (TBPHC) on December 15. This memorial gathering is held each year to remember those who have passed and to celebrate the lives they lived. This year, 112 friends and family members and 13 teammates attended to remember their loved ones. The event was followed by a reception with light bites and beverages where attendees had the opportunity to socialize with others who experienced similar grief.
