ANNUAL REPORT 2025–2026

The Foote Fund

The Foote Fund

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT I am honored to share with you the Annual Report of Giving for the 2025–2026 school year, acknowledging everyone who supported us from July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. This report represents the amazing generosity and commitment of the school's trustees, current and alumni parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends. On behalf of the entire Foote School community, thank you! Your generosity fuels what happens in our classrooms every day. Gifts like yours help to ensure the success of our students, giving them the resources, support, and inspiration they need to learn, lead, and thrive. One highlight from the year was the combined 8th and 9th grade Class Gift. Their collective generosity was a wonderful expression of gratitude for our faculty and staff, and a testament to our community. Thank you for believing in what is possible at Foote. Your generosity shapes not just the year ahead, but the everyday moments of learning, connection, and growth that define a Foote education. Sincerely,

Caitlin Terry Director of Development

The individuals listed have made a contribution to the annual Foote Fund between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. We have made every effort to ensure the accuracy of this list. Please contact the Development Office if you notice errors or omissions.

Your Generosity in Action

Writing Lab

The Foote School Writing Lab officially opened in September 2025. This new opportunity for Middle School students is a product of last year's fundraising efforts by parents of the Class of 2026. Guided by the Humanities Department and other writing faculty, Middle School students visit the lab during study hall to get help and feedback on class assignments and work on their own creative writing pieces. Faculty worked with students on personal narratives and application essays, brought in local writers to talk about their process and work with students, and hosted professional development workshops for Foote faculty.

Faculty & Staff Development Dr. Claire Bowern, a historical linguist at Yale University, brought her depth of expertise to our Humanities Department. Dr. Bowern's scholarship centers on the intersection of history, culture, and justice. Her visit sparked rich conversation around two important topics: the linguistic frameworks behind our use of No Red Ink, our online punctuation tool, and the history and practice of the land acknowledgement.

Maggie Roberts of Kate and Maggie Literacy Consultants (West Hartford) led our teachers through an engaging, hands-on professional development workshop on reading group strategies, vocabulary matrix practice, and summary writing form techniques — equipping our teachers with concrete, classroom-ready skills they could bring back to students immediately.

Student Enrichment

The investment in students was equally remarkable. Porsha Olayiwola — Individual World Poetry Slam Champion, founder of the Roxbury Poetry Festival, and a spoken word poet whose work fuses Afro-futurism and surrealism to illuminate the Black, women's, and queer diasporas — conducted two powerful workshops with Foote's 9th graders. Students dove into two poetic forms — the ghazal and the monostitch; several of the poems were showcased in the Poetry Cabaret.

Athletics

In the past year, Foote Fund donations have supported: new soccer goals; a new scoreboard; uniforms for soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and field hockey; and transportation to and from games.

Class Gift

This year’s combined 8th and 9th grade gift invested in the future of Foote by supporting our amazing faculty and staff. With a portion of the funds raised, we were able to increase stipends for twelve hardworking faculty members in leadership positions including Department Chairs, Team Leads, and Program Coordinators. We thank our families for their commitment to Foote’s faculty and staff. $1,000 $1,500 $1,250 $1,500

WHY GIVE

“I give to Foote because I believe in this school. My kids went on from here to great universities, and then went on to Harvard and to Yale for professional schools. But I think it was at Foote that they got their best education. This was the place that instilled a sense of curiosity and creativity. It was a place in which they found friends that last a lifetime, and it's a place that has a sense of learning at its centerpiece.” LINDA LORIMER P ’97, ’00; GP ’33, ’35 12 | The Foote School
