Dear Friends,
Welcome to Food For The Poor’s National Celebration --We Are One virtual event. We are so excited that you could join us for an evening of unity, inspiration and celebration.
The Gospel message to love our neighbor is fully alive here tonight as we come together to help prevent children from going to sleep hungry and ease the worry of parents who fear their children will starve to death. Your generous support will help make it possible to provide desperately needed meals to hungry families.
The coronavirus pandemic has touched us all, but for those suffering in extreme poverty, COVID-19 has been devastating. Severe food shortages caused by pandemic restrictions are driving tens of thousands of hungry children and families throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to the brink of starvation.
Your loving generosity is truly God’s love in action and an answer to the desperate prayers of those suffering in the darkness of poverty. You are a ray of light and hope for children and families confronting the cruel effects of this deadly pandemic.

We have all been affected by this deadly virus. But it is the most vulnerable who have been disproportionately affected by the global pandemic. HOW WE ARE RESPONDING
For The Poor’s COVID-19 Relief Efforts
Since mid-March, Food For The Poor has shipped 709 tractor-trailer loads of aid to the countries it serves. That includes 200 containers specifically for COVID-19 relief, including food, personal hygiene items, medical supplies, medicine, personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies, and 120 containers of rice from the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The charity also has purchased and shipped 80 containers of food and relief items, with another 19 containers waiting to be shipped, as well as purchased food directly from local businesses in the countries it serves.

Locally, the charity worked with longtime partner Matthew 25: Ministries and Knights of Columbus Florida State Council to provide 17 tractor-trailer loads of relief items such as cleaning supplies, personal care items, wipes, diapers and paper products to churches in South Florida for immediate distribution to families.

Food For The Poor has specially selected children’s homes for participation in our Angels Of Hope child sponsorship program to care for orphaned and abandoned children. These nongovernmental homes help these children grow and develop mentally, physically and spiritually in a loving environment.

A cornerstone in our mission is the provision of school furniture, supplies and books to the impoverished schools of the Caribbean and Latin America.

In developing countries, many die every day from drinking water from contaminated sources. Since 1998, Food For The Poor has completed 2,606 water projects that provide clean water and sanitation to hundreds of thousands of people in need.

Our micro-enterprise projects break the cycle of poverty with the skills training and tools essential for earning a living in sewing, auto body repair, welding, computers, electrical engineering, animal rearing and fishing.
