asce il 12 gennaio 1874 per volontà della Dieta Regionale Tirolese, con lo scopo di creare una struttura sperimentale e didattica in grado di qualificare l’agricoltura trentina; da allora ha sempre mantenuto fede al proprio mandato, cercando di coniugare al meglio ricerca, formazione e produzione, contando sull’attività

di cantina e sui terreni dell’azienda agricola dislocati nelle zone più rappresentative della viticoltura locale.

Januar 1874 auf Wusch der Tiroler Regionaldiät gegründet, mit dem Ziel, ein Forschungs- und Ausbildungsinstitut zur Qualifizierung der Trentiner Landwirtschaft zu errichten. Dieses Ziel wurde stets im Auge behalten, indem Forschung, Ausbildung und Produktion - auf den Weinkeller und die Güter des Landwirtschaftsunternehmens in den

wichtigsten Gebieten des lokalen Weinbaus basierend - optimal verbunden wurden.

Die Weine des Agrarinstituts sind Erben eines großen Knowhows de Zusammenspiels von Umwelt, Boden und Rebsorte und sind seit eh und je ein Beispiel für Trentiner Weinbau und Önologie.

The Istituto Agrario was founded on January 12th, 1874, by the regional Tyrolean Diet with the aim of establishing an experimental and educational centre that could qualify Trentino agriculture. Since then, they have always pursued this goal and tried to combine in the best way research, training and production with the support of cellar activity and the agricultural land located in the major

local wine-growing areas.

Thus, the wines of the Istituto Agrario derive from a thorough knowledge of the interconnections existing between the environment, soil and vine, and have always stood out as an example for the viticulture and enology of Trentino.

La viticoltura trentina ha una storia millenaria testimoniata dal ritrovamento di un vaso bronzeo - la situla risalente all’VIII secolo a.C., da documenti dell’antica Roma e dalle opere di molti monaci che nel medioevo si dedicarono alla coltivazione della vite.

La ricchezza enologica è dovuta alla confi configuraziogurazione geografi geografica ca del territorio, ai molteplici microclimi e alle diverse tipologie di terreno che hanno agevolato l’introduzione di numerosi vitigni.

Das Trentiner Weingut ist eine grüne Ader, die das Herzen dieses Gebiets durchzieht: Die Hauptachse sind das Etschtal und das Vallagarina, von denen sich wichtige Täler, wie das Piana Rotaliana, das Valle di Cembra, das Valle dei Laghi und das Alto Garda abzweigen.

Die Geschichte des Trentiner Weinbaus ist Jahrtausende alt; Zeugen davon sind die Fundstücke aus Tonerde (die sogenannte “Situla”) aus dem 8. Jahrhundert v.Ch., Dokumente aus dem antiken Rom und Werke vieler Mönche, die sich bereits im Mittelalter dem

Weinbau widmeten.

Der önologische Reichtum ist der geographischen Struktur dieses Gebiets, den zahlvollen mikroklimatischen Verhältnissen und den verschiedenen Bodentypen, welche die Einführung zahlreicher Rebensorten erleichtert haben, zu verdanken.

The Trentino vineyard is a green seam that passes through the heart of the region: the Valdadige and Vallagarina are the main axis from where other major branches depart, such as the Piana Rotaliana, Valle di Cembra, Valle dei Laghi and Upper Garda.

Wine-growing in Trentino boasts a millenary history as proved by the fifindings ndings of 8th-century B.C. terracotta vases (so called situla), documents of the ancient Roman age and works by mediaeval monks who used to grow the vines.

The local enological richness

is the result of the geographical confi configuration, guration, the varied micro-climates and the different kinds of soils that allowed the introduction of several vines.

Das Landwirtschaftsunternehmen des Agrarinstituts streckt sich über eine Oberfläche von182 Hektar aus, von denen ungefähr 50 mit Rebsorten angebaut sind.

Diese Oberfläche zeichnet sich durch kleine Grundstücke aus, auf denen die Pflanzen als klassische Trentiner Pergeln oder als Spalier auf einer Höhe von 200-700 m.ü.M., hauptsächlich mit südöstlicher Ausrichtung,

gezogen werden. Die Zusammensetzung der Böden – teils Schwemmland, teils Hügelland – variiert von kalkhaltig, mit Schiefer oder mit Porphyr.

The land of the Istituto Agrario covers an area of 182 hectares of which approximately 50 are cultivated with vines.

The vine surface is characterised by small lots cultivated with the traditional Trentino pergola or verticaltrellised at an altitude varying between 200 and 700 m a.s.l., mainly facing south-west.

The soils can be alluvial in the valley floor or autochthonous on the hills and are of different nature: calcareous, schist or porphyry.

ach ha tracciato un solco percorso ancora oggi dagli esponenti della viticoltura di qualità, facendo diventare l’Istituto Agrario un punto di riferimento dell’enologia mondiale.

La fifilosofia losofia di Mach è semplice, chiara e sempre attuale.

Essa nasce dalla precisa consapevolezza che un prodotto di qualità, sia esso vino o distillato, è una sinergia di fattori imprescindibili l’uno dall’altro: la qualità del vigneto, la perizia tecnica in cantina ed il carattere dell’uomo che “vive” dentro questa creazione.

Edmund Mach ist der Gründer des Agrarinstituts, das er ab 1874 fünfundzwanzig Jahre lang leitete. Mach hat ein Konzept erfunden, das heute noch von den Qualitätsweinbauern verfolgt wird und das Agrarinstitut zum Bezugspunkt für Önologie der ganzen Welt gemacht hat.

Die Philosophie von Mach ist einfach, klar und stets aktuell.

Sie basiert auf dem

Bewusstsein, dass ein Qualitätsprodukt – ganz gleich, ob es sich um Wein oder Destillat handelt – aus dem Zusammenspiel unabdingbarer Faktoren entsteht: die Qualität der Rebsorte, das technische Know-how des Weinkellers und der Charakter des Menschen, der in dieser Kreation “lebt“.

The Istituto Agrario was founded by Edmund Mach, who was its director for twenty-five years, starting from 1874. He set the guidelines that are still being followed today by the high-quality wine makers, thus rendering the Institute a reference point for oenology worldwide.

Mach’s philosophy is simple, straight and always up-to-date.

It derives from the awareness

that a good product (whether wine or spirit) must combine various elements that cannot be separated: the quality of the vineyard, the technical skills in the cellar and the character of the men who “live” this creation.

The cellar of the Istituto Agrario is located in the old Augustinian monastery inside San Michele Castle. The ancient evocative walls help create an atmosphere suspended between history, modern rationality and a fascination which has lasted for centuries, where the art of winemaking has been practised uninterruptedly for almost a thousand years.

Der Traubenverarbeitungszyklus wird in der Brennerei abgeschlossen, wo ein konventioneller unterbrochener Destillierkolben mit Wasserbad steht, der heute universell als Wahrzeichen der Trentiner Brenner ist.

Nach Tradition destilliert das Agrarinstitut Trester und Obst aus dem eigenen Landwirtschaftsunternehmen.

The grape processing cycle ends in the distillery, which is equipped with a traditional discontinuous alembic in bain-marie, the universally recognised trademark of distillers in Trentino.

Strictly following tradition, the Istituto Agrario continues to distil the grape marc and fruit coming from its own lands.

vini della Cantina comprendono due suadenti vini dolci, Moscato Rosa e Prepositura.

Prepositura deriva dalla vendemmia tardiva di cinque nobili vitigni bianchi coltivati in alta collina, Moscato Rosa è un vitigno di origini orientali importato in Trentino circa un secolo fa.

Die Weine des Weinkellers umfassen zwei schmeichelnde Süßweine: Moscato Rosa und Prepositura.

Prepositura wird aus der Spätlese von fünf edlen Rebsorten erzeugt, die in hoher Hügellage angebaut werden.

Moscato Rosa ist eine Rebsorte orientalischen Ursprungs, die in das Trentino vor etwa einem Jahrhundert importiert wurde.

The Cellar comprises two smooth sweet wines, Moscato Rosa and Prepositura.

The latter is the result of the late harvesting of fifive ve noble white grapes cultivated on high hills; the former is a grape of eastern origin imported to Trentino around one century ago.
