The International Day of Yoga, proposed by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, is celebrated worldwide. This year's theme is 'Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' One Earth, One Family, and One Future. In Folsom, Shankari Cheedhalla organized the event on June 21, 2023, at Mangini Ranch. Participants, including children and adults, enthusiastically performed various yogasanas. Shankari taught Pranayama and demonstrated asanas, highlighting their importance. The International Yoga Day Logo, symbolizing harmony, and peace, was displayed, representing Earth, Nature, Water, Fire, and the Sun. Shankari emphasized that yoga unifies mind and body, promoting well-being and unity with oneself, the world, and nature. Regular yoga practice improves physical and mental health, enhancing concentration. The celebration concluded with slogans and a speech by Shankari, encouraging everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily lives. Participants pledged to continue practicing yoga for a better life, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Meet our newest member of the Parks and Rec Team : Alayna Wagner - Folsom Ranch Resident

My name is Alayna Wagner, and I have lived in Folsom, California in the Folsom Ranch area for 3 years. My husband, Nathan, and children, Matthias (7) and Robin (5), and I have enjoyed exploring all that our adopted hometown has to offer since then. I’ve always enjoyed civics and government and when the opportunity arose to apply for the recent vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission, it was a nobrainer for me to apply. The support - from those I know and those I hope to come to know - since then has been very much appreciated, and I hope to effectively advocate for both Folsom Ranch and the broader Folsom community for the next 18 months as a commissioner. Please feel free to reach out to me on Facebook or in person any time so I can be sure to bring what is important to YOU to the attention of the Folsom Parks and Recreation Department!
