My warmest felicitations to all Metro Manila Jaycee Senate members and congratulations to the new officers who will be inducted during your 33rd Induction and Turnover Ceremonies. For many decades, the Jaycee chapters in the Philippines have established themselves as the hands-on training grounds of young men and in later years, also of young women who desire to hone their management, leadership and entrepreneurship skills. To be a member of a JC club is already a distinction for that young man or woman as it indicates the member’s potential as a leader. And since only the outstanding members of the JC chapters are elevated to the Jaycee Senate, being a JC Senator is a lifetime honor badge to acknowledge the individual’s meritorious service to his/her club, community and country and his/her willingness to guide the younger Jaycee members to embrace the JC creed - “...service to humanity as the best work of life.” With service as its ultimate goal, the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate has produced many members who are now leading lights in Philippine politics, governance and business.

Congratulations to a wonderful year for the MMJS! Ptes Conrad and his team had done so much and broke a lot of grounds. They deserve our appreciation for all their hard work. For me the amazing uniqueness of the Jaycee Senate, as an organization, is the ability to put together, people of diverse backgrounds: professions, interests, even age groups, in one common ground and where people can accept each other in friendship and enjoy each other’s company. The two common grounds that anchors us all are our Jaycee experience (no matter which generation of JC we belong to) and a culture of excellence that trademarks every JCI Senator. These 2 commonalities allow us not only to reminisce our good old JC days but to enjoy new friendships in a culture we all understand all too well. The Metro Manila Jaycee Senate is in a rare position to make an even better experience, since its scope covers all JCI chapters in the whole Metro Area. I hope to see more activities that even opens its arms to Senators nationwide. Being in the NCR, where the roads of everyone naturally crosses in the country, this is your advantage. My best wishes of success to the new set of officers headed by JCI Sen Albert Alday. I have had long conversations with Pres Albert, I have felt his enthusiasm. I had a chance to meet him with his core team, who shares this energy. I know that this coming year will be fitting continuation to another greater year for the MMJS. Warmest greetings to the distinguished officers of the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate, as you hold your 33rd Induction and Turnover Ceremonies at the Alabang Country Club! Distinguishing one achievement from another through the hype that pervades our organization is a tiring, but, fulfilling adventure. Many JCI Senate organizations claim success because of the service they rendered to their respective communities and members. Withstanding the test of accomplishment is the axiom, “People want to be led by leaders, not chapters.” Whenever someone does an outstanding job, it is imperative to recognize his or her extra effort. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the outgoing board, led by President Conrad Dieza, for their outstanding efforts in galvanizing the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate to its former glory, and wish the incoming board, led by President Albert Alday much success for the coming term. Your outstanding leadership, diligence and professionalism have reassured JCI Senate Philippines that there are chapters like yours that make “service to humanity the best work of life”, a living tenet that we carry like a precious badge of honor.

The honor of being a JCI Senator is as much a feat as it is an immortalized trophy for those whose exemplary performances as a regular Jaycee deserve the accolades of a thousandfold, much more, if one is given the opportunity to serve as the primus inter pares among a distinguished flock of Metro Manila Jaycee Senators. Serving as a venue for fellowship, the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate, has, for thirtythree (33) years, been the breeding ground of congeniality in various forms for the rest of JCI Senate Philippines and the Philippine Jaycee Senate Foundation. Under its auspices, it has produced many National Presidents of JCI Senate Philippines and Chairpersons of the Philippine Jaycee Senate Foundation as it has been a proverbial moving force for JCI Senate Philippines. While our organization exists as a separate entity from the entire JCI Senate Philippines and the Philippine Jaycee Senate Foundation, we have strongly fostered interdependence with both institutions towards a more vibrant and relevant Philippine Senate in the spirit of UNITY, INTEGRITY and HUMILITY through one AWESOME Metro we could all be proud of.

The Inception and Formation On November 18, 1986, thirty nine (39) Senators from different chapters In Metro Manila and some provinces held a plenary meeting in Club Filipino, Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila. It turned out to be a lively forum wherein the formation of the Metro Manila Senate Group was discussed very enthusiastically. This idea of a metro wide senate group proposed by JCI Sen. Joe Zagala was well received by everybody, especially by the Senators from small chapters who have no permanent venue for their meetings. Three historic resolutions were passed: 1. The body unanimously approved the creation of Metro Manila Jaycee Senate as permanent continuing forum, not only for Jaycee Senators from Metro Manila, but also for senators from other regional chapters who may now be residing and working in Metro Manila. 2. The body also approved the resolution that the Metro Manila Senate Group shall meet on a regular basis once a month. 3. JCI Sen. Joe Zagala was unanimously approved to be Chairman of the Metro Manila Senate Group for the year 1987. A permanent secretariat, to be chaired by JCI Sen. Joe
Zagala, was created to take.
Organizing Committee The first organizing committee meeting was held on December 4, 1986 at the residence of JCI Sen. Mel Mutuc in Forbes Park. The first general meeting following the November 1986 get together of the senators took place on January 23, 1987 at the Philippine Columbian Association. Objectives Defined In a luncheon meeting of Metro Manila chapter presidents on December 28, 1990 in Club Filipino, the objectives of the organization were redefined: 1. To strengthen the MMJS as a Fellowship Organization; 2. To project an excellent image at all times; 3. To adopt a strong advocacy role on national issues which may improve the economic, financial and social environment and conditions of the country; and A joint JCI Manila Senate & MMJS fellowship held in Oracle Hotel, Quezon City
4. To enhance business and professional relations and opportunities among member senators.

The Incorporation and MMJS Today The organization thrived and active participation increased until its incorporation on August 6, 1997 at the Securities & Exchange Commission. The 15 incorporators were: Rogelio Rayala (the President then of Metro Manila Jaycee Senate, 1997), Diosdado V. Calonge, Raymond C. Qua, Jose Ma. A. Rufino, Marilyn E. Josef, Erven R. Perlas, Rey U. Quipit, Levy C. Cabeliza, Felipe N. Egargo, Jr., Efren L. Tormes, Joaquin L. Sta Ana Jr., Cesar S. Ochoa, Edgar G. Lachica, Quintin P. San Diego, and Godofredo C. Camacho. Today, the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate continues to be a good venue for promoting in a region-wide scale the values in the Jaycee Creed. Generally, the organization is kept alive for interaction of JCI Senators of the region, who have common concerns, goals and ideals brought about by their host cities’ and municipalities’ interdependence to each other. Fellowships abound and informal gathering and networking among friends flourished.
