ONE AWESOME METRO TAKES JAYCEE SENATE BY STORM On a quaint late Sunday afternoon of March 10, 2019 at one of the metropolis’ premier golfing venues situated at the posh Ayala Alabang Village in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate staged its 33rd Induction and Turnover Ceremonies in style. With jaycee senators and regular jaycees trooping the veranda of the club as early as 4:30 pm, the indication of an AWESOME year ahead was clearly in the air. Men clad in coat and tie and women in their elegant cocktail dresses could not hide their excitement as they quickly lined up at the photobooth to showcase their wackiest poses as the registration booth was getting ready with JCI Perlas Pasay ladies making sure that everything was in order. Complete with an LED wall backdrop and a dj system eagerly awaiting renowned DJ Jon Tupaz of Faces fame, the occasion was every inch an affair to remember. The event began promptly at 6:30 pm with a processional featuring the Past Presidents of the organization, an innovation paying tribute to their immense contributions to the success of the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate. Emcees JCI Sen. Jason Ong, 2019 Director, and JCI Sen. Ma. Lavinia “Lavi” Peñaverde, Vice President for Metro South, exuded class as their on stage chemistry paved the way for a fun-filled evening. JCI Sen. David “Dave” Dichupa, Jr., Vice President for Metro East, delivered a most solemn invocation. Right after the Philippine National Anthem, JCI Sen. Ma. Cristina “Tina” Caswell led the recital of the

The program took a pause as guests, Senators and regular jaycees alike savored the delectable cuisine prepared by Neil’s Kitchen Gourmet Food while 2018 President JCI Sen. Conrado “Conrad” Dieza, Jr. handed out plaques of appreciation to his 2018 Board of Directors and others who made his “SIGLA PA MORE” year an auspicious one. As the program resumed for the Induction, 2018 President JCI Sen. Conrado “Conrad” Dieza, Jr. delivered his Valedictory, expressing his sincerest gratitude to those who helped him along the way after which, his 2018 Board of Directors presented him with a Plaque of Recognition and a medallion. Thereafter, the Induction proper began with the introduction of the 2019 Board of Directors and Executive Officers who trooped to the front, one by one. As was customary, 2019 JCI Senate Philippines National Vice President for Metro Manila JCI Sen. Jose “Joe” Ragos conducted the charging of officers. Subsequently, JCI Sen. Domingo “Jun” Roque, Jr., 2019 JCI Senate Philippines National President, inducted the 2019 Board of Directors and Executive Officers into office as guests lined up to congratulate the new set of officers. Past Presidents trooped to the stage to witness the traditional Turnover of Gavel and Medallion as they collectively transferred the medallion to JCI Sen. Albert Alday, 2019 President. Thereafter, the much awaited Inaugural Address of 2019 President JCI Sen. Albert Alday brought the house down with his moving recollection of his JCI odyssey, paying homage to the mother chapter of his local organization as he gave importance to his fellow Makati Jaycee Senators and Members, Caloocan Senators and Members, the Past Presidents of the organization and key people who helped him along the way which received a thunderous applause from the audience as he crisply mentioned his AWESOME theme which stands for “Always Welcome Every Senator Of Metro Everywhere”, redefining the role of the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate as a fellowship haven. 2018 Philippine Jaycee Senate Foundation Treasurer JCI Sen. Maria Agnes “Aggie” Angeles introduced Guest of Honor 1997 World President JCI Sen. Crispin Dy, Jr. as he traced his acquaintance with the newly-installed President and the expectations for the new Metro Manila Jaycee Senate Board. 2019 JCI Senate Philippines National President JCI Sen. Domingo “Jun” Roque, Jr. delivered his Inspirational Message together with a video highlighting the plans and accomplishments of JCI Senate Philippines as JCI Sen. Aries Balanay, 2019 Treasurer, brought the evening to a close by expressing his profound gratitude to all the sponsors of the event as he moved for the adjournment of the ceremonies. Hearing a unanimous motion duly seconded in accordance with parliamentary procedure, 2019 President JCI Sen. Albert Alday, made his first official act as he called for the adjournment of the 33rd Induction and Turnover Ceremonies of the Metro Manila Jaycee Senate. METRO MANILA JAYCEE SENATORS ATTEND 2019 TOFIL AWARDS LAUNCHING Metro Manila Jaycee Senators attended the national launching of The Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) Awards 2019 last March 6, 2019 at the Kalayaan Hall of the Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City. With the theme, “Nation Builders and Heroes In Our Midst,” the TOFIL Awards recognizes outstanding Filipinos 41 years of age and over whose exemplary achievements have contributed to public welfare and community building worthy of emulation. “For over 30 years, The Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) awards has been giving recognition to remarkable men and women who have served the Filipino people through their exceptional work and excellence,” says JCISP President JCI Sen. Domingo “Jun” Roque. adding that “with our renewed partnership with ANSA Foundation
and chaired by seasoned events specialist - JCI Senator Melandrew Velasco - this year’s TOFIL will be up to task to honor inspiring Filipino individuals.” According to ANSA Foundation President Philip Nocom whose partnership with JCI Senate Philippines started in 2016, TOFIL has been one of ANSA’s most important legacy and outreach projects. “We are honored to renew our commitment and partnership with JCI Senate Philippines in this year’s prestigious TOFIL Awards,” says Nocom. The 2019 Metro Manila Jaycee Senate hosted the Welcome Cocktails during the 20th Anniversary of the Association of JCI Senators of the South East Asian Nations (ASSEAN) last February 22, 2019 at D’Scout Hotel in Quezon City. Delectable selections of cheese, cold cuts and crackers made a perfect blend to begin the evening’s festivities as senators from the ASSEAN savored every bite. It served as a perfect start to a historic 20th Anniversary.

Albert Alday led the presentation of senatorship to 2016 JCI Manileña Executive Vice President Jenifer Uy who became the newest senator of JCI Senate Manileña, the first all female JCI Senate chapter, when it held an induction last March 14, 2019 at the Holiday Inn and Suites Makati in Makati City. As a bit of trivia, JCI Sen. Jenifer Uy is the first Senator of JCI Senate Manileña who was not a Past President of the chapter. Guests of Honor included 2007 JCI World President JCI Sen. Led by 2019 National Chairperson JCI Sen. Maria Lilia “Lia” Seelin, the 1992 Metro Manila Jaycee Senate President, and Secretary-General Ma. Cristina “Tina” Caswell, the 2019 Metro Manila Jaycee Senate Auditor, the free whole day training focused on “The Why’s and How’s of Solid Waste Management”, “The Future of Plastics” and “Marine Litter”. Seasoned green mentors, namely, Dr. Hilly Ann Roa-Quiaoit (2018 TOFIL Awardee for Environmental Conservation), Engr. Rommel Benig of Green Antz (eco bricks and pavers), Ms. Rina Papio of Green Space (eco composting) and Mr. Jess Reyes of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and former Vice President for Corporate Affairs of Nestle Philippines, served as trainers who ensured the success of the fun-filled workshop. Sharing their respective experiences were JCI Senate Legazpi and JCI Legazpi for their video reports on their amazing Coral Genesis Cross and E-Kariton projects, JCI Senate Pasay and JCI Perlas Pasay
with respect to their Tree Planting for Livelihood Project in Laguna and JCI Philippines Think Green led by 2019 National Chairman JCI Mem. Arjo Escalona for their 2019 eco projects. This whole day training was a joint effort of Greenlink, JCI Senate QC Capitol, JCI QC Capitol and JCI QC Sampaguita. Program participants were headed by 2019 National Executive Vice President JCI Sen. Rene Natividad and 2018 National Treasurer JCI Sen. Leah Desamito-Santiago who was the emcee of the event. Metro Manila Jaycee Senators attended the launching of “Serbus”, a 2019 Project of JCI Senate Philippines under the leadership of 2019 National President JCI Sen. Domingo “Jun” Roque, Jr. with the support of Megawide Foundation and the Department of Transportation last February 14, 2019 at the Andres Bonifacio Shrine in Ermita, Manila. “Serbus” provides free bus rides for commuters from Lawton, Taft Avenue, Baclaran, Pasay, Monumento, Muñoz, North Avenue, Cubao, Ortigas, Makati, Ayala, Baclaran, Mall of Asia and Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) as final drop-off point. There are six airconditioned buses servicing this route from Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 11:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. After the launching, the 2019 National President hosted a luncheon reception at the Cafe Rizal of the Rizal Park Hotel for stakeholders and JCI Senators alije which served as a fitting finale to a milestone event. This special project is in furtherance of the JCI Tenet in the JCI Creed “that Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life.”
2019 METRO MANILA JAYCEE SENATE BOARD HOLDS PLANNING SESSION The 2019 Metro Manila Jaycee Senate Board of Directors held its Planning Session last December 19, 2018 at the Sentro 1771 in Capitol Commons, Pasig City. Taken up were plans for the induction and projects for the year, which included, continuation of projects with 3000 Club, a newsletter for the organization, a website of its own, a shooting competition, a bowling competition, a tree planting project, entitled, “Punla Para Sa Kinabukasan” where proceeds would go to a charitable cause as well as fellowships to be hosted by the various senate chapters within Metro Manila. Lorna Verano-Yap last December 27, 2018 at the Heritage Park in Taguig City. He dwelled on the last
appearance of the 2018 National Vice President for Metro Manila at a Jaycee function during the JCI Senate Makati hosted Metro Manila Jaycee Senate Fellowship last September 1, 2019 at Oishi Batchoi in Makati City. JCI Sen. Lorna Verano-Yap succumbed to brain tumor last December 25, 2018.
