WOOD FOLK WITH A SHARED ENTHUSIASM TO SUCCEED

Two highly skilled woodworkers are behind FOG & VENØ A/S. Karl Frank Venø Nielsen and Ove Fog, two entrepreneurs who have been running businesses together since 1992, founded FOG & VENØ A/S in 2019.

Since they were very young and shared a newspaper route to earn money, the two entrepreneurs have formed a partnership. They both began in the kitchen industry, but quickly realized that they needed to go their own way, which is when they founded the company HORN, a tabletop factory that could compete with the established industry.

Karl’s wealth of ideas, Ove’s pragmatic nature, and, most importantly, their shared enthusiasm, hard work, and strong belief in the future all contributed to the rapid growth of the company. HORN has since the beginning established itself as a leading provider of innovative, high-quality table tops and other custom solutions.

Both Karl and Ove have an eye for market gaps, and a successful business is never far from a new idea. Denwood by Horn and most recently FOG & VENØ A/S have been added to their portfolio of businesses over the years.

Curiosity and entrepreneurial drive, seasoned with common sense and a fundamental desire to make the world a better place, have led to success. Karl and Ove’s entrepreneurial adventures are always focused on sustainability, social responsibility, and making things better – for the climate, the planet, and the people.

To reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes, we spare no effort. In our search for long-lasting items, we are more conscious than ever of quality, craftsmanship, and timelessness. We value intelligent and sustainable solutions, and we are bothered by the waste of resources.

FOG & VENØ A/S focuses on long-term solutions. We design, among other things, acoustic panels with an elegant and timeless appearance that can adorn a home for many years. They are produced as complete modules, making them easy to transport and install in new locations; this contributes to their sustainability.

CERTIFIED PRODUCTION

Our wooden panels are made from FSC®-certified wood, so we can guarantee that the product was made in a responsible and environmentally conscious manner that did not harm plants or wildlife. We actively support efforts for sustainable forestry, and thus the maintenance of a healthy balance in the world’s forests, because no more wood is felled in FSC® forests than the forest can reproduce. Our collaboration with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel underscores our focus on sustainable production and consumption, actively working to minimize waste and avoid harmful chemicals.

LIFE BELOW WATER

On average, more than 820,000 tonnes of plastic are produced worldwide. Every day. Unfortunately, much of that plastic ends up in the wild, and it’s a disaster for the planet’s wildlife. Fortunately, a great deal of plastic can be reused many times.

Therefore, FOG & VENØ A/S works with this global goal through a circular economy and upcycling of materials in our large production of acoustic panels. The back of the panels is a PET felt, which is a UV-stabilized, sound-absorbing, long-lasting material - made from at least 50% recycled plastic bottles.

RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

At FOG & VENØ A/S, we have a strong focus on minimizing our production waste and doing our best to minimize our resources and CO2 footprint. Therefore, as a starting point, we always try to repair materials, including panels, that do not pass the quality control in our production. Our quality control ensures that we only deliver high quality products.

If a fault occurs in the manufacturing process, the panel is marked and sorted for manual repair in our repair department. 90-95% of all errors can be repaired and returned to production.

This also means that we never sell second grade acoustic panels. We are proud of that, just as we also avoid using unnecessary resources in our production.

LIFE ON LAND

FOG & VENØ A/S is an FSC®-certified company, where our wood panels are produced from FSC®-certified wood and other controlled materials. Through our certification, we can guarantee that the products are manufactured under responsible and climate-conscious conditions. The FSC® organization works to ensure that wood production is neither harmful to plants nor wildlife, as in FSC® certified forests no more wood is cut down than the forest can reproduce.

Through the FSC® certification, we support efforts for sustainable forestry and thus the maintenance of a healthy balance in the world’s forests and life on land.

LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) is an important method for assessing environmental impacts throughout a product’s lifecycle. At Fog & Venø, we utilize LCA to promote sustainable development and assist builders in achieving certifications such as DGNB, LEED, and BREEAM, which recognize environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

Our products’ LCA documentation contributes to these certifications, ensuring that constructions attain desired sustainability levels. Both professionals and consumers increasingly demand sustainability and product transparency, with LCA serving as a crucial tool in this decision-making process. At Fog & Venø, we prioritize LCA documentation to support sustainability in construction projects.
