Welcome to Port Macquarie

AN INVITATION TO IGNITE YOUR SENSEs This year’s Tastings on Hastings Festival promises to be a fabulous weekend for soaking up the spring sunshine and enjoying the delights of our local farmers, producers, artisans, winemakers, brewers, bakers and chefs. Now in its 15th year, Tastings is the North Coast’s biggest culinary festival. In addition to the spectacular main event on the Hastings River foreshore, we’re excited by some great new satellite events across the weekend. You can dine in style or visit the food source at a local coffee roaster, winery, oyster farm or hinterland producer – there really is something for everyone! It’s the perfect time to make a weekend of it! If you’re looking to visit, check out portmacquarieinfo.com.au to plan your stay.

Matt Golinski Popular Chef Matt Golinksi will once again join us for our Tastings on Hastings festival. Matt is a fervent and passionate ambassador for using locally sourced and grown produce. He fell in love with Port Macquarie and our wonderful producers in 2016 when he took part in the Tastings on Hastings festival as our Local Produce Ambassador. Festival attendees will have ample opportunity to meet Matt Golinski as he tours the Tastings weekend itinerary. First up, Matt will join us bright and early Saturday morning (October 28) at the Wauchope Farmer’s Market where he will meet some of our local growers, makers and bakers. Next, he will make his way to the Tastings on Hastings Main Festival where he will be presenting several masterclasses and demonstrations in the Cassegrain and Wicked Elf Oyster Barn as well as on the Main stage. On Sunday you can catch him at The Sustainable Table event hosted at our local community gardens; The Lost Plot. Here, Matt will demonstrate how easy it is to create some scrumptious dishes from the fresh food he forages from the garden that morning. Anyone who joined us for this event last year will remember how popular this demonstration was. The tasty dishes Matt prepared from scratch were incredible.

Sustainable Waste Disposal

Program Insert TOH 2017 A5.indd 6

To help us reduce the environmental impact of our event we have once again partnered with BioPak who will be supplying Tastings on Hastings vendors with compostable and recyclable plate-ware, cups and cutlery. Help us dispose of our waste sustainably by placing your compostable plate-ware in the green bins and all recyclable material in the yellow bins. We’ll have plenty of signs around the festival to guide your waste disposal and if you are unsure, you can always ask one of our friendly volunteers.

We love our Vollies!

Our Tastings on Hastings event would not be the success it is without the generosity, passion and enthusiasm of our volunteers. Each year, close to 100 local people put up their hand to help our event team bring the Main Festival to life. They do an amazing job by helping and guiding visitors, staffing the information tent, collecting surveys, encouraging recycling and helping with ticketing at entry gates. Proudly sponsored by Holiday Coast Credit Union, this year’s volunteers will be easily identified in their blue aprons and T-shirts.
