TIPS FOR RENOVATING YOUR KITCHEN THE HEART OF THE HOME…

Firstly, and most importantly ask yourself… do I need a full kitchen renovation?

It’s easy to get carried away with the idea of brand new kitchen, however if budget’s a concern, have a think about whether a partial renovation will do. Replacing your tired laminate benchtop or outdated cabinetry may be all you need to make your kitchen feel up to date and modern.

When completing a full kitchen renovation, it is important to ensure you can maximise as much storage and functionality as possible, however it’s also important that you can achieve a beautiful aesthetic whilst doing so.

A good design is in the planning; take the time to do your own research. Find a kitchen design or layout that you love and are inspired by – this will keep you on track as there are so many options out there, it can get quite overwhelming. Your kitchen needs to be the most functional and user-friendly room in the house.

When planning out your space, make sure you consider the following practicalities: • A “set down space” around ovens and microwaves. • An appliance cupboard, this keeps your bench space neat and functional. • A built-in bin drawer for rubbish and recycling. • Double undermount sink, without the additional attached drying rack, this will allow for more bench space.

Ensure to consider the flow of your kitchen whilst designing; as a rule of thumb, walkways through your kitchen should be at least 900 mm wide. Walkways within the cooking zone should be at least 1050 mm. It is important to also consider how doors open and close – when you open your dishwasher, for example, you don’t want to block half the kitchen and be constantly stepping over it. The same goes for overhead cupboards, ensure they are at a reasonable height as you do not want to be knocking your head all the time!

Whilst in the Design phase of your kitchen reno you also need to think about your plumbing and electricity. If you’re renovating an existing kitchen space, consider where the plumbing lines already are – can you work around them? Same goes for power points. If you’re considering adding an island bench, make sure plumbing and electricity is fed to it before you begin work, and the floor is laid. This can be a costly problem to fix.

When you’re planning your kitchen selections, remember to consider every element including your wall colour, cabinet colour, hardware and flooring and how it will all tie together. For example, if your existing wall colour is in a grey tone and isn’t being updated, you wouldn’t select new cabinets in a cream colour, as this would clash with your walls. To ensure a beautiful cohesive kitchen you are proud to call your own, we suggest meeting with a Kitchen Joiner for an initial concept, and then engaging with an Interior Designer for further design direction and colour selections, it is all in the detail.

Happy renovating!

homes in the current release of Sovereign Hills Estate in Thrumster, just outside of Port Macquarie.

The inspiring presence of Adenbrook Homes within the display village comprises a master family home, the Penn E that features an intriguing and moody Manhattan Luxe theme while being complimented by its smaller but punchy counterpart the Saxon D which also doubles as their exclusive Build and Design Gallery.

The Penn E floorplan features great separation and different living zones enhancing privacy and tranquility for the whole family in their own secluded space.

This dynamic home design pivots around the inviting and thoughtprovoking kitchen, living and dining spaces, seamlessly integrating with the outdoor entertaining area overlooking the pool, making it feel like one expansive escape that accommodates entertaining, relaxation, romance and family adventures alike. The design style of Manhattan Luxe cleverly blends rich and extravagant gold features with dazzling darker grey and full-bodied espresso tones throughout the sprawling single story family home.

The unique and surprising colour palette steps away from the Hamptons coastal trend we have seen so commonly over the last few years, and instead creates a moody peacefulness that not only welcomes but instills a sense of relaxation and calm.

While the Penn E holds a commanding position in the display village, the Saxon D is one of the most exclusive and sought after homes to gain access to in the entire village. The innovative Saxon D actually stands to serve as an exclusive colour selection studio that is only accessible by clients that are building with Adenbrook Homes.

The Build and Design Gallery provides an experience like no other, as clients are able to see, feel and touch their way through their colour selections providing a tangible vision of their new home from very early on in the design process. This tangibility is coupled with another unfair advantage, as new home buyers experience the guidance of skilled interior designer, Julie Borger, who has helped hundreds of locals to define their own styles while maintaining a timeless look for their home.

The team at the Adenbrook Homes display homes are some of the most experienced and knowledgeable in the business, having worked in the industry for many years, so whether you are just starting to research your new home or almost ready to choose a builder you must speak with the ladies at Adenbrook Homes.

e award-winning precast concrete plunge pools are the first of their kind, bringing the fastest, easiest, and highest quality concrete pool to the market and now available in Port Macquarie. Owner of East Coast Pools and Outdoor Living, Gary tells us about these exciting pools.

GARY HOUGH

East Coast Pools and Outdoor Living

Hi Gary, tell us about

PLUNGIE pools – how are they different to other pools in construction?

The Plungie’s have been developed with the consumer in mind. They are pre-cast, pre-fabricated concrete pools made in Brisbane. They are a world’s first product that is pioneering the future of swimming pools: bringing the fastest, easiest and highest quality pre-finished concrete pool to the market. They are not only an innovative product solution but are also cost effective. Concrete vs fibreglass – concrete pools will last a lifetime whereas fibreglass can warp, discolour, move over time and can become extremely hot In summer. We know that bringing these pools to the marketplace here on the Mid North Coast is just what the consumer wants as another option to the industry standard which is outdated – every Australian deserves a pool.

One of the biggest selling points for PLUNGIE is just how fast you can install them – what is the timeframe?

From initial site excavation to installation of a Plungie to completion of finished surrounds can be 2 weeks. All this depends on your chosen finishes and each project is entirely different.

Can you tell us about the different styles of PLUNGIE?

There are 4 to choose from – The Arena 3.5 metre round, The Studio 3.6 x2.2 metre, The Original 4.6 x 2.5 metre & The Big Daddy of the range The Max 6 x 3 metres. All the pools come prefinished internally with 6 different ecoFinish colours to choose from. The skimmerbox and associated plumbing works come already attached to the pool when it is delivered to site. It is then just a case of our Poolwerx technician plumbing it up and doing a final test and balance prior to your first swim.

Other than the POOL what other services do you offer?

Being Licensed builders we offer a range of services to complement the pool installation – depending on your chosen type of Plungie, location and finished surrounds. We have a first class team of tradesmen to complete the concreting,

FROM

INITIAL SITE EXCAVATION TO tiling, pool glass, fencing, INSTALLATION timber or composite OF PLUNGIE TO decking and we can even COMPLETION OF remodel your backyard FINISHED and finish with new SURROUNDS CAN landscaping – our quality BE 2 WEEKS. of work is the finest in the industry.

How can we find out more?

You can visit our website at eastcoastpoolsandoutdoorliving.com and we are also active on both Facebook and Instagram where we post regular updates on our latest projects. We cover from Newcastle in the south to Coffs Harbour in the north and anywhere in-between so you are likely to see a Plungie on its way to its new home when you are out and about on the roads.
