A MESSAGE FROM FOCAL: The FOCAL International Awards, now in their 18th year, aims to celebrate achievement in the use of footage in all variety of genres, across all media platforms as well as recognising the exceptional work of archive researchers and the accomplishments in film and television restoration work. Due to the ongoing global pandemic this is the second year FOCAL will be announcing the winners virtually on the June 24, 2021 at 19:00 (BST) on FOCAL’s Vimeo, Facebook, and YouTube channels. This year we are honouring 55 nominees across 14 award categories, the highest number of shortlisted nominees since the Awards were established in 2004. The 2021 competition received a wide variety of submissions making it an undeniably rich and diverse contest, made possible by the incredible work of archive professionals, restorations, and researchers. Please join us in celebrating all the shortlisted nominees listed in this Awards Programme. THE HOST: Jo Caulfield is a stand-up comedian, host, and comedy writer. She has worked on some of the biggest shows, and with some of the biggest names, in British comedy. Not only has Jo been the regular warm-up performer for Have I Got News For You for many years, she has appeared as a guest on the show, as well as on Mock The Week and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Jo has also appeared on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow. On Radio 4, Jo has her own acclaimed shows, It’s That Jo Caulfield Again, Jo Caulfield's Speakeasy and Jo Caulfield Won’t Shut Up, as well as regularly appearing on shows including The News Quiz, Just A Minute, The Now Show, and The Unbelievable Truth. She has also written for Ruby Wax, Joan Rivers, Ant and Dec, and Graham Norton, who said of Jo, ‘I never knew I could like a woman so much’.
