Surge Adventure Park opened Saturday in the Regency Court Shopping Center. The park, at 9292 Arlington Expressway, is backed by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. The company planning to develop Edison, one of the first two neighborhoods in eTown, submitted permit applications to the city to build three model homes. National homebuilder Toll Brothers proposes to build the three models on what appear to be adjacent lots, according to site plans.

The projects are labeled Edison 114, 115 and 116 and correspond to home lot numbers in Edison, a community planned for 265 single-family homes. Homes in Edison will start in the high-$300,000s with oneor two-story designs from 2,500 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet. Edison 114 is a two-story, 4,477-square-feet model labeled “The Abigail” at 11289 Madelynn Drive. It features four bedrooms and 5½ bathrooms, a covered entry, lanai, two-car garage and a separate one-car garage. The job cost is shown as $260,000.

Edison 115 is “The Anna Maria,” at 11295 Madelynn Drive. The two-story, 3,131 square foot model has four bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms. It features a lanai, covered entry and a three-car garage. The job cost is $185,000. Edison 116 at 11301 Madelynn Drive is 3,297 square feet with four bedrooms and four baths. It has a job cost of $180,000. Toll Brothers and David Weekley Homes bought property for development in eTown, which primarily is east of I-295 and Florida 9B, with some property to the west. David Weekley Homes and ICI Homes are partnering to build

homes in the other neighborhood, called Marconi. Home there will start in the mid-$300,000s. The eTown mixed-use community comprises 1,478 acres in southern Duval County. Previous announcements said Edison and Marconi will open in summer 2019. Other residential builders also have plans for eTown. Rayonier Advanced Materials, which said Oct. 9 it will create 79 positions at its Downtown headquarters by 2022, is the codenamed Project Grid that was approved in August for city and state incentives. Jacksonville-based Rayonier Advanced Materials, a specialty chemical company, said it would create the jobs following its acquisition in late 2017 of Canadian forest products company Tembec. The company said the jobs will be professional and administrative roles to support its international operations and will average $69,520 annually. A news release said the Tembec purchase almost doubled Rayonier Advanced Material’s size to more than $2 billion in annual revenue and added more than 15 operating plants in Canada and Europe. The release said the expansion secures 80 fulltime jobs that are based at SEE MATHIS, PAGE 2

Pilot Express opens in North Jacksonville Pilot Flying J announced that it opened a Pilot Express on Saturday at 3515 Zoo Parkway, its 31st Florida location. The North Jacksonville Pilot Express created about 50 jobs. The Pilot Express offers 10 gasoline fueling positions and five diesel lanes; PJ Fresh hand-stretched pizza and grab-and-go food offerings; Pilot’s Best Gourmet Coffees; Dunkin’ Donuts Express; and more. Pilot Flying J said it will offer a free breakfast Saturday and Sunday to active-duty and retired military veterans who can redeem an offer in the Pilot Flying J app.
