More housing, hotel rooms and restaurants could be coming to East Bay Street in Downtown Jacksonville. Rimrock Devlin DeBartolo Jacksonville LLC submitted plans to the Downtown Investment Authority on Thursday showcasing what the company calls
an alternate vision for the former City Hall and Duval County Courthouse sites along the St. Johns River. “Riverwalk Place” includes a fivestory, 347-unit residential complex; a nine-story, 150-room limited-service hotel; 10,000 square feet for multiple restaurants; and a 6 ½-story, 468-space parking garage. According to the plans, the residen-
tial, hotel and parking buildings would be developed along East Bay Street, with the restaurants facing the St. Johns River. “Riverwalk Place will serve as the impetus for Downtown Jacksonville’s riverfront redevelopment, and we envision the community being a true 24/7 live, work, and play destination,” said SEE RIVERWALK, PAGE 2

RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. continues to add locations. RaceTrac Petroleum, with several sites in review around Jacksonville, wants to add a store at Baymeadows Road and Baymeadows Way in the Deerwood area. Atlanta-based RaceTrac wants to develop a 5,411-square-foot gas station and convenience store on 1.4 acres at 8715 Baymeadows Road on property
owned by Wells Fargo. The city is reviewing plans. Connelly & Wicker Inc. is the civil engineering consultant. It’s at least the fourth new RaceTrac under construction or in planning. RaceTrac is building at Gateway Village at Gate Parkway and Deerwood Park Boulevard and is working on plans for stores at Buck Business Park in Arlington and at University Boulevard
West and Richard Street in Southside. RaceTrac operates at least 17 stores in Northeast Florida. The company is expanding as Wawa Inc. is opening the first wave of what it expects will total up to 40 Northeast Florida locations. Jacksonville-based Gate Petroleum Co. and First Coast Energy also continue to add or upgrade stores.
The city calculated a mobility fee of $186,738 for the RaceTrac at Baymeadows Road. That fee is calculated for a 5,500-square-foot RaceTrac with 16 fueling stations in place of the almost 5,700-square-foot bank building with five teller lanes. The purpose of the fee is to offset traffic impact. KMATHIS@JAXDAILYRECORD.COM (904) 356-2466
