Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry promised on election night March 19 that people “would not recognize Downtown” by the end of his second term. Here’s a look at where some of his priority projects for the next four years stand now:

PROJECTS IN THE PIPELINE The Jacksonville Landing: Planned for demolition before the end of the year. Old Courthouse and City Hall: The East Bay Street property is in the final stages of cleanup after demolition. Lot J: City, Jaguars are close to a deal to develop the site next to TIAA Bank Field. Hotels: Seven are planned totalling more than 800 rooms. Duval County jail: The mayor wants it out of Downtown. New JEA HQ: Curry expects project to move ahead. Berkman Plaza II: Property in limbo since 2007 has new ownership. Old Greyhound bus station: Property was turned into a parking lot, could get a building. River City Brewing Co.: Investors are showing interest in the Southbank site.

Southern St. Johns County is the next development frontier and an area company proposes to pioneer it with Parrish Farms. Heritage Development Co. of NE Florida LLC proposes a 2,782acre mixed-use development on both sides of Interstate 95, south of Florida 207. “Parrish Farms is the perfect opportunity to be at the forefront of development in southern St. Johns County,” said developer C h r i s to p h e r Shee, who also Shee owns MasterCraft Builder Group LLC, which is a single-family homebuilder. “It’s my neighborhood, I live here in southern St. Johns, so I wanted to do this correctly. I want it to be a positive impact,” he said. Heritage Development is based in St. Johns County. MasterCraft builds in several St. Johns communities, including Madeira, Shearwater, TrailMark and Villages of Valencia. Heritage Development has the proposed development site under contract to purchase.
