Jacksonville organizations say they were able to keep their staffs employed because of loans they received from the federal Paycheck Protection Program. Nearly 135,000 Jacksonville jobs could be retained as a result of the Paycheck Protection Program, according to Small

Business Administration data. Only the identities of organizations that borrowed more than $150,000 were made public. The loans are forgivable if entities meet certain requirements. If the requirements aren’t met, the remainder of the loan must be paid back with 1% interest over two or five years, depending on when the application was approved. Fortegra Financial Corp. is working on new space in South Jacksonville. The city approved permits July 3 and 4 for the Jacksonville-based insurance services company to build-out space on the second and third floors of the three-story Deerwood Park Center at 10751 Deerwood Park Blvd. at a cost of $1.76 million. Tenant Contractors Inc. is the contractor for the project. Documents show it will buildout 54,000 square feet with a substantial completion date in October. Connie Turner Interiors Inc. is the designer. An Ash Properties-affiliated entity owns Deerwood Park Center, records show. An Ash Properties representative could not be reached for comment. City to replace balustrade at Memorial Park The city awarded Intron Technologies Inc. a $404,994 contract to replace the Memorial Park balustrade, according to a news release from the Memorial Park Association. The balustrade, at the foot of Margaret Street along the St. Johns River near Five Points, was extensively damaged during Hurricane Irma in September 2017. In addition, light fixtures on the original balustrade that had been removed over time will be replaced with new fixtures to the restored balustrade.
