The owners of Beach Road Chicken Dinners in St. Nicholas say it’s time to retire. BY DAN MACDONALD, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
Beach Road Chicken Dinners, a landmark Jacksonville restaurant for 80 years in the St. Nicholas area, is for sale. The buyer will get the building, the parking lot, the wooded area behind the restaurant and most importantly – the recipes. Owners Kenneth and Tena Ferger have decided it’s time to retire. They also know they own valuable property at 4132 Atlantic Blvd. The restaurant is just part of the almost 4-acre parcel. More than half of it is wooded. The property is a mix of commercial and medium density residential zoning. The Fergers bought the property in 1998 from Tena Ferger’s brother, Vincent DeSalvo, who purchased the property in 1980 from the original owner, Earl Majors. The property has been for sale for about three years, Kenneth Ferger said. Only recently have they placed a sign in the parking lot, prompted by rumors of a sale.

Cra-Z-Art plans parking for hundreds
Distribution center coming to Imeson Park wants spaces for more than the 21 jobs tied to its incentives package. The Cra-Z-Art manufacturing and distribution center under development in Imeson Park appears to need up to 319 parking spaces, a lot more than what would be used by the 21 jobs tied to the company’s incentives legislation. VanTrust Real Estate, the developer of the 300,000-square-foot CraZ-Art building, requests an administrative deviation for the property at 10501 Cold Storage Road to allow additional parking. A parking demand analysis says the maximum number of parking spaces allowed with the manufacturing, assembly, warehousing and office building is 165 spaces. VanTrust, through JI Imeson Industrial 300 LLC, requests a deviation from the zoning code to allow up to 319 off-street parking spaces “to accommodate employees.” The analysis says there will be two to three work shifts and there may be overlap. There also will be seasonal temporary SEE MATHIS, PAGE 2
