Despite JEA setback, Shad Khan not giving up on plans to develop site near stadium. When Jacksonville Jaguars President Mark Lamping and team owner Shad Khan present the State of the Franchise report Thursday, expect to hear that JEA’s decision to build its

headquarters near the Duval County Courthouse won’t affect plans to develop Lot J. And expect Lamping to hear more about Lot J. That parking lot at TIAA Bank Field is where Khan and Lamping proposed that city utility JEA build its office tower

to house more than 800 employees and spark residential and retail development in the sports complex on the eastern edge of Downtown. “As far as what you might see on Lot J in terms of a timetable, I’m sure we’ll talk about it on Thursday,” Lamping told the Northeast Florida chapter of the University of Missouri alumni association at The Bread and Board in Riverside.

The State of the Franchise is scheduled 10:30 a.m. in the Lower East Club at TIAA Bank Field. Former head coach Tom Coughlin, now executive vice president of football operations, also is on the agenda. Lamping declined to talk last Thursday about details of the presentation. Part of the St. Johns River Power Park in North Jacksonville crumbles to the ground Friday morning after it was imploded using 46 pounds of dynamite. The blast destroyed four selective catalytic reactors attached to the plant’s coal-fired boilers. Brett McClung is the new president and CEO of Jacksonvillebased Baptist Health effective July 1. The hospital group announced Friday that McClung will succeed Hugh Greene, who is retiring after serving as CEO for 19 years. McClung was executive vice president and chief operations leader for the North Zone of Texas Health Resources, comprising nine hospitals, McClung since 2013. Texas Health Resources is a faith-based, nonprofit health system with 29 hospitals and more than 24,000 employees. “We are thrilled to welcome Brett to our health system and our community,” Baptist Health Board Chair Richard Sisisky said in the news release. “We believe he is the perfect fit, not only in terms of his breadth and depth of experience but also his passion for excellence and his character,” he said.

Sprouts Farmers Market sets opening date Sprouts Farmers Market announced Friday it will open its first Jacksonville store in The Markets at Town Center on July 10. The Phoenix-based natural and organic food grocery chain plans a hiring fair for 150 full- and part-time workers it needs for the 30,000-squarefoot store at 4873 Town Center Parkway.
