Midtown Table expects to open Jan. 27 in Gateway Village at Town Center.

Chefs Matthew and David Medure target Jan. 27 to open Midtown Table, their new “Italian-inspired kitchen” restaurant in Gateway Village at Town Center. The Medure brothers are completing the restaurant, bar and outdoor seating and activity venue at 5016 Gate Parkway, south of Butler Boulevard from St. Johns Town Center. Midtown Table is their newest venture. It will operate 11 a.m.10 p.m. daily, including Sunday brunch. “This is our upbringing – Italian and Middle Eastern food,” said Matthew Medure. “It’s not a traditional Italian restaurant by any means.” Medure said prices will range from $6 to $14 for lunch and $7 to $25 for dinner. The city is reviewing plans for a self-storage and retail project at 1195 Edgewood Ave. S. in Murray Hill where a Jones College campus was demolished. The Silverfield Group and Morales Group propose a threestory, 788-unit self-storage building of 98,000 square feet and a 5,000-squarefo o t re ta i l building with associated parking and Silverfield utilities. Leed Silverfield, president of The Silverfield Group, said construction could start on the self-storage building by the end of April. He expects to choose a contractor by the end of January. Connelly & Wicker Inc. is the civil engineer. The 1.66-acre site is at northeast Edgewood Avenue South and Plymouth Street that formerly included what was the Edgewood Avenue Theater that became Jones College. The Jones College building closed in 2017 and the almost 26,000-square-foot structure was demolished after the city issued a demolition permit Sept. 30. Development is proposed in phases, with the self-storage and parking in phase one. Retail space construction will follow when a user is identified. Gateway Village at Town Center sold for $10.95M Ownership sold three outparcels at Gateway Village at Town Center for $10.95 million Dec. 31 to a New York-based retail investor and manager. Jacksonville Gateway Village LLC sold the outparcels in two deeds to Gate Parkway RMR LLC, led by Rettner Manager LLC of New Rochelle, New York. It is affiliated with Rettner Realty. The seller is led by Chris Morgan, co-CEO and founder of Jacksonville-based developer Cantrell & Morgan Inc. Tenants include Sushi House, CycleBar, MyDry Blowout Bar, Burrito Gallery, Diesel Barbershop and Midtown Table.

sandwiches that include vegetable panini, pork belly banh mi and fried chicken; and Neapolitan pizza baked in an 850-degree oven, but designed with a softer crust. The dinner menu includes appetizers that include carpaccio (prime beef, shaved Brussels) and baked clams; soups and salads; housemade pasta such as bucatini carbonara, cavatelli, gnocchi and mushroom duxelle agnolotti; and entrees like veal osso buco and salmon; and pizza. Midtown Table will serve pastas, pizza and bread made by hand with flour milled on-site. Matthew Medure said he is considering a late afternoon pizza “happy hour” as the kitchen switches from lunch to dinner service. Menus will change seasonally every several weeks. While there are several meat and seafood options, Medure considers the menu to be “vegetableforward.” “Vegetarians are going to come to appreciate this restaurant,” he said. Produce will be locally sourced. Wine by the glass, craft cocktails and about 20 draft beers will be available. Medure said Midtown Table will employ about 75 people. It offers full table service. Seating inside totals 125, including 11 at the full-service bar and 12 at three four-seat hightop tables sit near the main dining area.

Fairfax is affiliated with Morales Group. Silverfield said the facility will be branded Extra Space Storage, which will manage the center. His group maintains ownership. The retail building is in design. “We will start vertical construction once we have a portion of it preleased,” he said. The parking lot and site work for the retail will be done at the same time as the storage building is developed. Silverfield said the retail building, which will front Edgewood Avenue, could be used as retail or restaurant use or both.

A 12-seat table can be reserved for family-style service or it can be used by large groups. The open kitchen lines the side of the dining room. A grab-and-go market at the entrance will allow customers to buy pasta, sauces, breads, sides and other menu items to cook or heat at home. The front also has a barista for coffee service. The outside features 80 seats in a family-friendly atmosphere with tables, TVs, fire pit seating, lounge seating, a bar pass-through, a summer kitchen for grilling during good weather, and activities like a threehole putting course on turf, cornhole and a large Connect 4 game. A garden “green wall” will grow herbs used at Midtown Table. To keep down noise inside, interior designer Larry Wilson found thick fabric art wall panels and acoustical ceiling features, Medure said. Longtime Medure associate Marshall Brown will serve as general manager. Justin Rohloff is the chef and Bryan Kolb is the sous chef, Medure said. Medure declined Jan. 8 to say how much his group invested in the restaurant. Midtown Table comprises 4,000 square feet of space inside and 3,500 square feet outside. In March, the city issued a permit for Baker Design Build to build-out the restaurant at a cost of $870,133. At the time, Medure anticipated the investment to be up to $1.5 million.
