Can Assist Charity Round.

Each year Oberon Tigers Junior league, Senior league and Leagues club work together to help raise funds for Can Assist. This charity is an invaluable resource within our community that provides assistance to families affected by cancer. A auction will follow the home round clash against Orange United on the 3rd of July, 2021. The auction will consist of specially designed game day jerseys and general items up for auction, with all monies raised going directly to Can Assist. Oberon Juniors are asking for help from our Tiger family and the local business community to make this year’s auction bigger and better than ever. Donations of goods, services and vouchers that can be auctioned off on the night are needed. In recent years, Junior league has called on each team to donate items that we can put together to create hampers. This has proved successful and we will continue to contribute to the auction in this way. This year we are hoping to add something a little extra from juniors , so watch this space for details. Last year saw the charity round take a new direction due to covid. We were unable to hold the general auction but the jersey auction went ahead. Thanks to the generosity of our community and the great work of our auctioneers Greg and James from First National, we raised in excess of $20,000. It was an awesome result for a very worthy cause, we are hoping go even better this year. The Can Assist Charity Round is the biggest day on the Oberon Tiger’s calendar and any assistance will be appreciated. Book the date and make sure you come along on the day and support the Oberon Tigers, it will be an action packed game followed by an exciting auction that makes a difference to cancer patients, helping to ensure access to cancer treatment and care. LIVESTOCK MARKET UPDATE

May Livestock Update May is typically one of the driest months of the year. With 2021 being no exception, early frosts were experienced, with fresh feed taking a hit. Numbers being sold fluctuated throughout with many being sold due to high prices. Cattle • Large number of females being either retained in herd or sold to restockers rather than meatworks. • Feeder cattle holding value due to a decreased supply. Heavy Angus steers making $4.75-$4.85/kg. • With plenty of available feed, producers have still been very keen to source young cattle. • Opportunities arose to buy $1200$1400 steers and heifers to tuck away for the winter months. • Export Beef starting to regain strength with the backlog of processed beef starting to clear. Sheep • A consistently even market through the month with processors keen to source Trade Merino and Crossbred Lambs. Lifting towards the end of the month with prices being over $8/kg. • The Heavy lamb market sold to a downwards trend. Due to the southern regions offloading large numbers creating a surplus of numbers. • Feedlots offered contracts into the winter months, creating a strong store lamb market. • Mutton selling consistently either side of $6/kg. On the 21st of May, the Bowyer & Livermore team were involved in the 32nd Rosedale Annual Bull sale. With long time loyal client’s prices reached $28,000 for 2019 drop Charolais Bull. Overall, 46 of 48 Charolais bulls sold to average $9,722. In the composite bulls there was strong commercial support to sell 26 of 26 bulls to average $5,800 for the Charolais Angus and $7,273 for the Charolais Shorthorn bulls. Both Cattle and Sheep markets are shaping up to remain strong through the winter months due to there being a shortcoming of finished stock. What is your role at B&L and how long have you worked for the company? Licesee of our Portland office and have been in the role for nearly three years now. What was your first job? Worked in shearing sheds growing up during school holidays but my first full time job was as a sales rep with SKF who are a bearing manufacturer. Where did you grow up? Born & bred in Bathurst but have lived in a few different places since. Who lives at your place now? Just me. What is something you have done, but will never do again? I think Scooba Diving is probably off the list from now as is any more football. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A professional soccer player. What sports / hobbies did you enjoy when you were young? I played soccer a lot but I also played rugby union and in the summer I would play baseball. What would we most likely find you doing after work on the weekend? I love to get on my motorcycle and go riding somewhere, find a quiet pub for a beer and dinner, stay the night and head home the next day. Nothing better… What is your ‘go to’ meal when eating out? Definitely a steak. You can always judge a good restaurant by its steak.

Riding a motorcycle through Austria, Switzerland, and Italy was outstanding and something I would love to do again. 15. Where would you love to travel to?
