Fresh Face at the Saleyards Harry Joins the B & L Team

A lifetime of living on the land has given the newest recruit for Bowyer & Livermore the experience he needs when it comes to working with livestock. Livestock salesman and auctioneer Harry Phillips recently joined the specialist team and said he was proud to be collaborating with clients from Bathurst, Orange and surrounds. “I’m passionate about the industry as a whole but also adding value to a client’s business and being involved in the chain of the decision making process . I also really enjoy the auctioneering side of things and getting extra value for the client’s livestock - conducting the crowd can definitely give you a bit of an adrenaline rush.” Growing up on a 100 hectare mixed cattle and sheep operation near O’Connell NSW, Harry received a bachelor of Agribusiness at Charles Sturt University in Orange before heading into livestock sales. “I’ve always loved the industry and I’ve always wanted to stay on the land. I knew a mix of dealing with a different variety of businesses and also livestock was the path that I wanted to go down,” he said , adding he has now been in the industry for the past seven years. “I believe, having that experience really helps me to know all the markets and different avenues from a young energetic point of view.” Harry said providing his clients with a range of market options and helping them to determine which would best suit their needs, was one of the elements he most enjoyed while on the job. “It’s a privilege to be part of adding value to people’s livelihoods and thats what it is about at the end of the day.” Harry said watching his clients grow their businesses while helping them to ’chase every cent’ in the yards was part of what made every day unique. “Every day is different and that’s the beauty of it - to watch it grow from that first property purchase, to buying seed stock and improving their herd over time.” “When it comes to current market trends, Harry said he believed restockers and processors will be looking to secure supply into the new year. “I think 2021 will be a big rebuilding stage.” For more information phone Harry on 0428 855 314 or email harry@bandl.com.au
