Home Building Jessica Metcalf

At Thomsen Homes builds homes, not houses. "We believe that home is a space where people gather, continue traditions, and make memories,” said Jessica Metcalf, Director of Sales and Marketing. Founded in 2007, Thomsen Homes is a client-oriented, leading home builder in the Fargo-Moorhead and Grand Forks area. Chris Thomsen began Thomsen Homes with a single home and since has grown the company to become one of the largest single-family home builders in the area.

In 2019, Thomsen Homes launched a brandnew logo and expanded into a new office space. Their new location in the EagleRidge Plaza building allows their team to deliver an even better client experience in with their twostate of the art design studios. “Our mantra has always been focused on our clients having a seamless experience personalized for them and what they want in their home when they build with us,” said Metcalf. Thomsen Homes continues to offer a variety of different floor plans and lots throughout the community.

Home Building Nate Anderson

Over the past 10+ years, Thomsen Homes has been proud to build quality homes for individuals and families to call home. "We are grateful for all of those who have trusted us to make their dreams come true, and have a passion to make a difference in the lives of not only our homebuyers but to all those in the various communities we serve in," said Nate Anderson, New Home Consultant/Broker. Part of the reason the team at Thomsen Homes loves building houses is their passion to enrich the lives of all those they interact with. One way they can do that is through giving back. “As a company, we feel it’s so important to give back to the community. Not only do we give back monetarily but donate our time as well as part of our give-back initiatives," said Anderson.

"Our team has put in hours upon hours through the years to various non-profit organizations throughout the community,” said Anderson. Each year has been different for the company’s giveback initiative, but no year stands out more than 2020. On March 21st, Thomsen Homes launched a giveback initiative to help alleviate some financial instabilities due to COVID-19. The initiative, which was originally set for $50,000, was to be given to those different individuals, businesses, and organizations that had been affected by the pandemic.

The response to the give back initiative took off and Thomsen Homes sought out other businesses that wanted to help in the hopes of making a greater impact. Through the generous donation of almost $60,000 from ten other businesses, along with Thomsen’s 50% additional match, the total impact reached $139,000. Through committee, donors and partnership with the FM Area Community Foundation, Thomsen Homes narrowed the suggested recipients from 156 down to 30 different individuals, businesses, and non-profits with the highest needs. “We were fortunate to be in a position to give back like this. It is really a testament to our community coming together to get through this and come out stronger. We have been blessed to be able to contribute and help where we can. The support and positivity that came from this initiative and our generous partners in the community are indescribable. We live in a very special place with some very amazing people,” said Anderson.

Home Building Korey Zellers

Some may think that building a home can seem overwhelming, but the building process at Thomsen Homes strives to provide clients with an unmatched customer experience before, during, and after they build a home. “Every one of our floorplans can be personalized to add custom details and finishes, rearrange rooms, or add square footage. We want to give our clients options when they are building with us,” said Korey Zellers, New Home Consultant. The build process at Thomsen Homes starts with structuring the purchase agreement; where the client decides on the floor plan and where they want to build. Next, in Design, is where you’ll decide on the finishes for both the interior and exterior of your home…all tailored to your personal style. “Our design specialists are experienced experts and are there to ask the questions you may not have thought of when building a home. They help provide the client with options that not only fit within their budget but that are personalized to each homeowner,” said Zellers. Once all of the selections have been made, the next step is building the shell of your home. As your home comes to life, you and your design specialist will complete an electrical walkthrough of your shelled home to customize all of the electrical finishes you would like throughout.

A pre-finish walk-through is up next, which means you really get to see your home shine. “As a new home consultant, this is one of my favorite parts of the building journey for clients. You get to walk through the home that they have envisioned and feed off of their excitement. We examine the home’s functionality as it nears completion and determines if any changes need to be made prior to closing,” said Zellers. Final walkthrough and closing are the remaining steps prior to receiving the keys to your new home. At the final walkthrough, your new home consultant and construction manager will review the final details of your home. A member of Thomsen Homes' Client Support team will also be there to answer any questions you may have regarding our warranty process, as well as explain what to expect after closing. “Being a part of a homeowner’s journey is really something and such an honor to see their dream home come to life,” said Zellers.
