A NOTE FROM LEADERSHIP
Dear Beloved,
As we enter this beautiful season of Thanksgiving, our hearts are filled with gratitude and joy for each of you. This time of year gives us a special moment to pause, reflect, and give thanks for all the blessings God has given us. Among those blessings, we count you, our church family, and the incredible ways you bring love and light to our fellowship. You are a true testament to God’s goodness and grace, and it is an honor to walk alongside you on this faith journey.
Your faithfulness is a powerful witness, a radiant example of how God’s love flows through His people. We are deeply grateful for the dedication and commitment you pour into our church community. The way you serve, encourage, and support one another fills our church with life and hope. Each of you brings something unique and special to this ministry, and we are inspired daily by your open
hearts, compassionate spirits, and steadfast devotion. Together, we are stronger because of the gifts God has placed within each of us.
Thanksgiving is more than a holiday; it is a season that invites us to remember God’s unfailing love and abundant blessings. In our joys and challenges alike, we can rest assured that God is with us, guiding and sustaining us every step of the way. In this spirit, let us remember that gratitude and praise are at the heart of our faith. Scripture reminds us to “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise” (Psalm 100:4). Each day, let us approach our lives with hearts full of gratitude for the grace, mercy, and endless love our Lord and Savior showers upon us.
As we gather with loved ones and reflect on God’s goodness, may we also look forward with a renewed sense of purpose. There is so much He has called
us to do, both within our church walls and beyond. Together, we can continue to bring His light to the world, sharing His message of hope and love with all who cross our paths. We are a family in Christ, and through Him, we find strength to serve, courage to love, and joy in every step of our journey.
May this season fill your hearts with peace, your homes with love, and your lives with renewed joy. We pray that each of you feel the fullness of God’s blessings, not only in this season but every day. Let us continue to encourage one another, lift each other up, and celebrate the beautiful path God has set before us.

Walking in Faith, Growing in Excellence: A Mid-Autumn Update from Scruggs Academy

As the autumn leaves paint our campus in vibrant colors, Scruggs Academy continues to flourish in its mission of educational excellence and spiritual growth. Now well into our first semester, we're witnessing daily reminders of why Dr. Julius R. Scruggs's vision for our academy remains as vital today as when it was first conceived. His dream of creating an educational environment where faith, academic excellence, and character development intersect continues to guide our path forward.
Our dedicated faculty and staff have embraced this academic year with tremendous enthusiasm and purpose. Each morning, as young minds fill our classrooms, we're reminded of Dr. Scruggs's wisdom in understanding that a strong educational foundation, rooted in Christian values, creates limitless possibilities for our children's futures.
This week, our school community is actively participating in Red Ribbon Week, engaging in meaningful discussions and activities about making healthy life choices. Our students are learning
valuable lessons about personal responsibility and the importance of positive decision-making –principles that align perfectly with our school's foundational values.
Looking ahead, we're excited to announce our upcoming Character Day on Thursday, October 31st. This special event will transform our campus into a celebration of literary heroes and positive role models. Our annual Trunkor-Treat activity will provide a safe, family-friendly environment for our students to enjoy the fall festivities while building stronger connections within our school community.
As we move forward in our academic journey, we're particularly grateful for the continued support of our First Missionary Baptist Church family. Your prayers, encouragement, and active participation in our school events help create the nurturing environment that makes our academy special.
We invite our church family to continue partnering with us through:
• Prayer support for our students, teachers, and staff
• Participation in our upcoming Character Day and Trunk-or-Treat event
• Sharing the story of our academy with others in our community
Dr. Scruggs often reminded us that education is not just about academic achievement – it's about developing the whole child in mind, body, and spirit. Today, as we witness our students growing in knowledge, faith, and character, we see the living legacy of his vision.
Through God's grace and our continued commitment to excellence, Scruggs Academy remains steadfast in its mission to educate, inspire, and empower the next generation of leaders. We're not just teaching students; we're nurturing future champions of faith and learning.
