HEALTH EMPHASIS Bone and Muscle Pain Most of us have minor aches and pains in our muscles, bones and joints at one time or another in life especially as we age. Causes are multiple and can range from lack of exercise, viral syndromes, multiple arthritic conditions, restless leg syndrome, heat exhaustion and even anemia to name a few. It is important to rule out major illness such as rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, cancers, toxic shock syndrome, multiple sclerosis and others. If you have recently passed the standard medical screening tests and avoided new exposures you can reasonably assume it is temporary such as a viral illness like flu, or a known arthritic concern. Over-the-counter (OTC) treatment of symptoms can rule out major worries if it clears symptoms. Prolonged pain with new symptoms should be checked out with your primary care provider. The standard OTC medications such as ibuprofen (Advil) and acetaminophen (Tylenol) have been used for years. Avoid aspirin products to reduce chances of interaction with other medications or medical conditions until you have consulted with your doctor. MEMBERSHIP Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) is first and foremost a Christian church. Our chief responsibility and calling is to effectively tell the story of Jesus Christ that persons who are not Christians will see the need and have the desire to become Christians. Individuals seeking membership ought to express a love of Jesus as Lord and Savior and a desire to be a member of FMBC. There are four ways by which a person can become a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church: * CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE: An individual who has accepted Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior; * BY LETIER: an individual seeking to become a member of FMBC by presenting a letter from their previous church; * A CANDIDATE FOR BAPTISM: An individual who has not been immersed in water and professes Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior and is willing to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; * RESTORATION: An individual who has been a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, but has not been actively involved in the ministries of the church, and/or has not attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and identified as inactive. Whether an individual joins by Christian experience, by letter, restoration, or as a candidate for baptism, they all must complete Membership Classes 101, 201 and 501; however, you are strongly encouraged to complete all five classes. Youth under age 14 are required to attend C.L.A.S.S. 101. Upon completion of classes 101, 201, and 501 persons wiII be presented for membership the fourth (4th) Sunday during the 11:30a worship service. Baptismal service is held every fourth (4th) Sunday during the 11:30a worship service. Persons who are baptismal candidates will not be baptized nor presented if they have not completed classes 101, 201 and 501. Once the membership process is completed and prospective members become official members, they can vote on church matters and serve as ministry leaders. Ministry leaders must complete alI five classes (101, 201, 301, 401 and 501). They will also be issued a member number and envelopes for tithes and offering and be informed on giving through other avenues.
