Urban Dorado Anglers

NEW

While virtually all anglers visiting Argentina overnight in Buenos Aires, remarkably few take advantage of the prolific golden dorado fishery that exists within eyeshot of the airport. This fishery is vast and productive and now easier than ever for anglers to experience on either the front or back end of longer travels in Argentina. Urban Dorado Anglers’ (UDA) day trips include professional fly fishing guides, new custom boats, round-trip transfers from your accommodations or the domestic airport to the marina, all needed tackle, flies, and lunch. For those that would rather spend a day on the water than in the city, this is your opportunity to seamlessly target one of the world’s most aggressive and impressive gamefish. Rate: $950 per boat per day for one or two anglers

UDA’s Campotinto Lodge, Uruguay

NEW

For anglers keen on escaping the city and fishing the prolific Parana Delta immediately north of Buenos Aires, consider UDA’s quaint wine tasting resort on the north side of the delta in Uruguay’s little-known wine country. With all transfers and fishing gear included, this is one of the easiest and most unique golden dorado add-ons imaginable. While relatively close to the bustle of BA, this lodge is a world apart with grass-covered roads, grazing cattle, and acres of fertile vineyards. Guests can enjoy wine tasting, farm-to-table cuisine, massages, bike tours, and a wide range of prolific dorado waters that have seen very few anglers to date. Rate: $2,500 per person for a 2 night/3 day package

Dorados on the Fly The Upper Parana River is a massive tailwater system that forms much of the border between Argentina and Paraguay. It is also a consistent producer of golden dorado in the 6- to 12-pound range, as well as many fish north of 20 pounds. Owner Ricardo Pinto has been fly fishing for golden dorado far longer than most and some of the sports’ greatest guides continue to work for him on the Parana. For those that appreciate high value, hard fishing, split-day schedules, and comfortable accommodations, this is a great add-on destination for short stays or full-week packages. Rate: $2,800 per person for a 4 night/3 day package

Pirá Lodge Pirá Lodge is located in the middle of northern Argentina’s 3-million acre Ibera Wetlands Preserve. This is a spectacular ecosystem with crystal-clear waters, abundant bird and wildlife, and some of the most scenic and spectacular light-tackle dorado fishing in Argentina. Pirá was the world’s first deluxe lodge purpose-built for discerning freshwater dorado anglers. With an exceptional wilderness setting, elegant accommodations, fine wine and food, and a gracious outdoor pool, Pirá has a special magic about it that draws well-traveled international anglers back year after year. Stays of varying lengths welcome. Rate: $4,750 per person for a 5 night/4 day package

Delta Dorado River Cruiser

NEW

The Rio Parana Delta is one of the largest deltas in the world, encompassing 5,400 square miles, multiple channels, and countless islands, braids, and wetlands. Delta Dorado River Cruiser is a program thoughtfully designed around fishing the remote and seldom-seen upper reaches of the delta from the comfort of a luxurious, mobile mothership. Featuring four spacious double-occupancy rooms with attached bathrooms, AC, phone service, Wi-Fi, and television in the main lounge, this trip offers the utmost in comfort and service in a remote, dorado-rich wilderness. Each day guests will head out in custom-designed fly fishing boats and return to gourmet meals and fine wine. Rate: $3,500 per person for a 5 night/4 day package
