Re-envisioning… our resources. Extending the life of our existing textiles plays an important role in reducing global textile waste. This stream required using materials that were repurposed and found locally.

Borrowing … across our boundaries. Sometimes growth requires compromise and the help of neighbors. In this stream, up to half of the fiber material could be sourced from outside the Chesapeake Fibershed but as close to our region as possible.

For all streams, notions such as buttons, zippers and threads were exempt from the fibershed sourcing requirement.Participants could follow any of these streams of making for this challenge: As part of the challenge, we asked participants to document their making - the materials, the processes, and their personal journeys. This book contains those stories in their own words and photographs unless otherwise noted.
