FLYING

SEPTEMBER 13 - 15

Thanks to all of you for coming to our horse trials. Whether you are from far away or right down the road, we greatly appreciate you visiting and sharing your weekend with us. In the mid-nineties, Allen Northcutt set out to create his vision of having a place where horses and riders could find “every type of fence imaginable.” Today Allen’s dream has turned into the gift he has provided for this community, which we are all so lucky to be able to share. And this year, we proudly celebrate our 25th year!!!

Allen’s mind never stops, as new jumps are constantly appearing on his farm, and he strives to make Flying Cross the best that it can be. This year Allen gave us an amazing gift and expanded the top arena, as well as redoing the footing in both arenas. We are incredibly excited about our TruTex footing, it is magical. Thanks to Rob Peterson for his chainsaw art, Wow!!! We love our new jump cups and strips, so easy! And our “fake flowers” that have popped up all over the farm.

We enjoy putting this on as much as (we hope!) you all enjoy coming. Each year our community comes together and provides the extraordinary support we need to take on such a task. We are so thankful this year for our many sponsors who have generously supported Flying Cross. Please thank our sponsors- and have a free donut at the “merch tent” We hope that the weather is kind to us, that everyone has an enjoyable weekend, and that your rides are fun, safe, and that you leave with a little bling!

Our cool party is of course happening this year! Competitors have a ticket in their packet- please come and enjoy dinner from Mark’s Feed Store and win some cool prizes. Extra tickets are available at the secretary’s office. Our last two prizes are always free stabling and free entry for 2024!! Also... be sure to vote for your choice for our Flying Cross Farm Spirit Award. Generosity, kindness, community spirit and a sense of adventure! Nominate the rider, parent, groom, or friend with you who embodies that spirit! We will put a box at the secretary's office.

In the Flying Cross spirit of helping our friends, we have always named a recipient (or two) each year that we all generously contribute to. We have helped individuals and nonprofits through the kindness of our competitors and friends. This year we have chosen our volunteers. Putting on a recognized horse trials is a huge task, and we salute all our fellow organizers, secretaries, volunteers, course builders and designers, announcers, officials, EMTs, and the countless individuals that make our sport possible. We COULD NOT (I am shouting) participate in the sport we dearly love without the kindness of our volunteers. This year we want to say thank you to every volunteer with a gift certificate to our local friends at Skylight Supply. To our rider volunteers- we will have a drawing for a reimbursement of your entry fees this year!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU…

We are so fortunate to have Allen and his long term commitment to our sport that allows us to do what we do each year. We appreciate you Allen and thank you for the incredible gift you have given us. You are simply amazing. We love you. So... have fun, be safe, and most of all..... Thank A Volunteer!!!

SEPTEMBER HORSE TRIALS

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 13 - SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 15

You Got It Award Training Rider Divisions

In loving memory of, You Got It, aka "Yogi". A cross country horse through and through, regardless of the score after dressage.

Yogi was FULL of heart. An amazing jumper with a life changing gallop. A horse that melted away fears and anxiety and made all of my lifelong dreams of training level a reality. He made me set new goals, and dream even bigger.

The Area 8 community supported Yogi and I when we were at our absolute lowest. And while Yogi eventually lost his battle, the dreams he started live on. So we offer up, as a tribute to this amazing horse, the SECOND annual You Got It Award at Flying Cross Farm Horse Trial!

Long Live all the magic we made, Yogi. I had the time of my life , with you.

Love, Heidi
