Ich war schon so oft auf Cosmoledo, Astove, Alphonse, Desroches und kenne das Fliegenfischen auf den Seychellen sehr gut. Die Insel Providence hat mir noch in meiner Sammlung gefehlt, hier woll te ich immer schon hin. Justin McCarthy hat mich im September spontan angerufen und gefragt, ob ich die Eröffnungswoche mit seinem Sohn Vladimir und seinen russischen Freunden gemeinsam auf der Maya Dugong auf Providence fischen will. Es waren noch zwei Plätze frei. Das war natürlich eine großartige Gelegenheit –somit haben mein Freund Christoph und ich das Angebot nach kur zer Absprache gleich nach dem Telefongespräch angenommen.
Das Ziel war es, einen Pumphead Parrotfish zu fangen, denn die se kommen auf Providence normalerweise zahlreich vor. Leider waren zu unser aller Enttäuschung kaum Pumpheads auf den Flats zu finden. Ich konnte einen haken aber habe ihn nach kurzer Zeit wieder verloren. Die Gruppe konnte insgesamt nur zwei ‚Pumpies‘ landen. Grigory und Andrey waren die zwei Glücklichen.
Ansonsten war das Angeln auf den Flats erfolgreich und wir konn ten viele GTs und Trigger landen. Leider keinen Permit.
Providence ist auch dafür bekannt, dass man hier kapitale Bonefish fangen kann. Christoph holte einen neun Pfund Bonefish aus dem Wasser und konnte seinen ersten Milkfish und Trigger landen.
Das Fischen im tieferen Wasser rund um die Korallenstöcke war besonders gut. Dort haben wir zahlreiche Reeffische gefangen. Das war unsere Alternative, wenn das Wasser bei Flut auf den Flats zu hoch war. Es war eine tolle Woche mit viel Party und Spaß. Die Guides auf Providence sind top professionell und der Service war ausgezeichnet.

I have been to Cosmoledo, Astove, Alphonse, Desroches so many times and I know fly fishing in the Seychelles very well. The island of Providence was still missing in my collection and I always wanted to go here. Justin McCarthy called me spontaneously in September and asked if I would like to spend the opening week fishing at the Maya Dugong on Providence with his son Vladimir and his Russian friends. There were still two places left. Of course this was a great opportunity - so my friend Christoph and I accepted the offer after a short consultation right after the phone call.
Otherwise fishing on the flats was successful and we were able to land many GTs and triggers. Unfortunately no permit.
Providence is also known for catching big bonefish here. Christoph pulled a nine pound bonefish out of the water and was able to land his first milkfish and trigger.
Fishing in the deeper water around the coral sticks was particularly good. We caught a lot of reef fish there. This was our alternative when the water was too high on the flats at high tide.
The goal was to catch a Pumphead Parrotfish, which are usually plentiful on Providence. Unfortunately, to our disappointment, there were hardly any pumpheads on the flats. I was able to catch one but lost it again after a short time. The group could only land two ‚pumpies‘ in total. Grigory and Andrey were the lucky two.
It was a great week with lots of partying and fun. The guides on Providence are highly professional and the service was excellent. Providence we‘ll be back.
