COSMOLEDO
Auch dieses Jahr konnte ich wieder eine Woche auf Cosmoledo organisieren und begleiten. Vom 6. bis 13. Februar, mit Vollmond am 11., waren starke Gezeiten garantiert, ein entscheidender Faktor für die Fischerei auf Cosmoledo.
Wettertechnisch war es nicht durchgehend einfach. Zeitweise fehlte die Sicht, immer wieder begleiteten uns Wind und Regen. Dennoch nutzten wir die guten Wetterfenster konsequent für die Flats und den Surf. Fische waren genug da, und wir konnten wirklich viele fangen. Insgesamt war es für alle eine sehr erfolgreiche Woche.
Einige starke Giant Trevally über einem Meter konnten gelandet werden, dazu kamen einige Grand Slams. Cosmoledo bestätigt damit Jahr für Jahr seinen Ruf als Capital of Giant Trevally.
Ein wesentlicher Faktor für den Erfolg war die Gruppe. Sie harmonierte hervorragend, der Spaß kam nicht zu kurz und viele Teilnehmer kannten die Seychellen bereits seit vielen Jahren. Diese Erfahrung machte sich deutlich bemerkbar. Besonders erfreulich war die Entwicklung der zwei neuen Seychellen-Fischer Colin und Bret, die sich im Laufe der Woche zu einem sehr starken Team entwickelten – am Ende mit dem Spitznamen „GT Slayer“. Pam nahm zum ersten Mal an der Reise teil und ging gemeinsam mit Kay angeln. Die beiden fischten die ganze Woche über sehr erfolgreich, arbeiteten hervorragend als Team zusammen und nutzten die Bedingungen optimal, wann immer sich eine Gelegenheit bot.
Essen und Unterkunft waren wie immer ausgezeichnet. Sobald man den Fuß auf Cosmoledo setzt, ist man geerdet und fühlt sich wohl. Danke an alle, die mit dabei waren, für die großartige Stimmung, den Zusammenhalt und die vielen gemeinsamen Erlebnisse auf und abseits der Flats. Ich hoffe sehr, dass wir noch viele weitere gemeinsame Wochen auf Cosmoledo und in den Seychellen oder ab irgendeinen anderen guten Platz erleben dürfen.
Once again this year, I was able to organize and host a week on Cosmoledo. From February 6–13, with a full moon on February 11, strong tides were guaranteed, a key factor for successful fishing on Cosmo.
Weather conditions were not easy throughout the week. At times visibility was limited, and we dealt with wind and rain on and off. Still, we made the most of the good weather windows and spent those days fully focused on the flats and surf. There were plenty of fish around, and we caught really good numbers. Overall, it was a very successful week.
Several strong Giant Trevally over one meter were landed, along with a few Grand Slams. Year after year, Cosmoledo continues to prove why it truly deserves its reputation as the Capital of Giant Trevally.
A major part of the success was the group itself. The team dynamic was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, and many participants have been fishing the Seychelles for many years. That experience clearly showed throughout the week. It was especially great to see the progress of the two Seychelles newcomers, Colin and Bret, who developed into a very strong team over the course of the trip—earning the well-deserved nickname “GT Slayers” by the end. Pam joined the trip for the first time and fished together with Kay. Both of them fished very well throughout the week, worked great as a team, and made the most of the conditions whenever opportunities came up.
As always, the food and accommodation were excellent. The moment you set foot on Cosmoledo, you feel grounded and fully present. Thank you to everyone who was part of this trip—for the great spirit, teamwork, and all the shared moments on and off the flats. I truly hope we will enjoy many more weeks together on Cosmoledo and throughout the Seychelles or on any other fishing destination.
