GREATER NEWS

A MINISTRY OF GEAT SUNDAY SCHOOL

How we Limit God's Power in our Lives!

There are several ways to limit God's power in our lives. Examples include Pride and SelfReliance, Fear and Anxiety, Unforgiveness and Bitterness, Doubt and Unbelief. Regardless of the cause, they all serve as a barrier preventing us from JESUS' ministry's full benefits. The Bible provides several examples where people's response (Pride, Doubt, Fear Unforgiveness) to God's love prevented them from fully experiencing God's Miracles and Blessings. This quarter's comments focus on Pride and Self-Reliance. When we trust in our abilities and resources more than God, we limit what God can do THROUGH US! Pride and Self-Reliance keep us from seeking God's HELP and GUIDANCE. There is very little space for God to work when we are full of PRIDE. The BIBLE instructs us to "humble ourselves under God's mighty hand so that HE may lift us at the appointed time (1 Peter 5:6). May The LORD HELP us to be all we can be in CHRIST JESUS. Amen!

Much Love in Jesus’ Name, Minister Waveney Arthur, Adult Superintendent

Greater Recovery Ministry

The Greater Recovery Ministry is an outreach ministry that serves individuals spiritually who are fighting with the psychological, spiritual, and behavioral effects of addictions. Our Goal, through the Love of God, is to help individuals get complete deliverance from all types of addictions. Individuals will be encouraged and supported while in the recovery process. We know that Jesus has the power to set you free from alcohol, drugs, food, gambling, the internet, nicotine, co-dependency, shopping, etc.

The curriculum for the Greater Recovery Ministry is the manifested vision of our Senior Pastor, Bishop LaVelton J. Daniel. He desires to see “All Souls” receive freedom from the “World of Negative Addiction.” The Implementation of the curriculum consists of 12 Godly principles that will be discussed weekly in a support group setting by trained facilitators.

The curriculum for the youth participants will focus on drug prevention and education. If you, a family member, or a friend need support, we can schedule a day and time to meet that's convenient for you.

Two Prophets of God

Unit 2: Daniel’s Faithful Prophetic Ministry; Unit 3: Jonah: A Resistant Prophet

October 6, 2024: LESSON 6: Daniel Intercedes for Israel; Daniel 9:4-14; Teacher: Sister Sandra Wyatt – In this week's lesson, Daniel teaches us that we must repent for our sins individually and collectively, and turn back to God. Confession helps us prepare for God’s rule amidst all our confusion. He wants us to submit to His will and reign. Daniel confessed the people’s disobedience and pleaded for God’s forgiveness. God is forgiving and just, willing to welcome us back whenever we repent. Review this week's lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS #81 WYATT (youtube.com)

October 13, 2024: LESSON 7: God Strengthens Daniel; Daniel 10:10-19; Teacher: Evangelist Myrtice Nesbitt The lesson last week focused on Daniel's prayer after reading Jeremiah. After his prayer, Gabriel appeared and explained to Daniel that he had been sent in response to Daniel's prayer. Gabriel referred to Daniel as "greatly beloved" (Daniel 9:23). In this week's lesson, a heavenly visitor once again responded to Daniel's prayer and referred to him in the same manner (Daniel 10:11, 19). God's love for Daniel was extensive and complete, as it is for all believers. We too are greatly beloved by God. He answers our fervent, faithful prayers. Not only does He answer our prayers, but He also supplies us with strength, peace, and fearlessness so that our faith grows. Review this week's lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS #82 NESBITT (youtube.com)

October 20, 2024: LESSON 8: Jesus Points to Daniel: Mark 13:14-27; Teacher: Minister Cheryl Bowden –We have heard many times over the years that Jesus is coming again, but not many people seem concerned about preparing for that wonderful event. The Bible leaves no doubt about the signs that will happen before He comes, so we are without excuses if we are not ready. Our lesson this week prepares us to be ready for Christ’s return. When Jesus comes in power and glory, we must be ready to receive Him in peace. Review this week's lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS #83 BOWDEN - YouTube

October 27, 2024: (Unit 3: Jonah: A Resistant Prophet) LESSON 9: Jonah Runs and is Found Out; Jonah 1:7-17; Teacher: Minister Pam Jamison-Ruffin – After spending some time examining the prophet Daniel, we now shift our focus to Jonah. While Daniel provided a positive example of how we should live and obey God’s will, Jonah’s attitude toward the unbelieving world is less commendable. However, it's important to note that God loved both of them. In this lesson and the upcoming one, we will explore God’s love for the prophet Jonah and us. God’s love led Him to discipline Jonah and protect both Jonah and us. Is doing God’s will a simple matter for His children? Do we just need to know His will and fulfill it to find happiness? With statements like these in mind, we are always eager to understand what God wants us to do. Unfortunately, it rarely works that easily, as every believer knows. Sometimes it is challenging to do God’s will, either due to our sinfulness or because of difficult circumstances. Those of us who have attempted to evade doing God’s will know that it is impossible to escape from His presence. When His will is easy and enjoyable, we are enthusiastic to carry it out, but when it requires something challenging, we often attempt to avoid or ignore it. Jonah tried to run, but God’s love for him was too great to evade. God pursued him and gave him another chance to obey. Review this week's lesson at the link: GREATER NEWS #84 RUFFIN - YouTube
