When boating, watch for and avoid manatees; they are often hard to see and swim close the water's surface. Tip: wearing polarized sunglasses makes depth vision easier when on the water.

Play it safe. Protect children with life jackets and set a good example by wearing yours.

Be considerate of others at boat launches and on the water. Observe waterway rules.

Consider the weather forecast and tide when planning your water adventures.
