ROBERT L. FREEDMAN (Book & Lyrics) won a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Book of a Musical for the Tony-winning Best Musical of 2014, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. He was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Score, with composer and co-lyricist Steven Lutvak, with whom he shared the 2014 Drama Desk Award for Best Lyrics. Among his television career highlights, Robert won the Writers Guild Award for HBO’s A Deadly Secret, and was nominated for an Emmy Award and a Writers Guild award for the miniseries Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows. Other teleplays include Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, for which he received a third Writers Guild nomination; What Makes A Family, which received a GLAAD Award and for which Robert was a Humanitas finalist; What Love Sees, winner of the Silver Plaque at the Chicago International Television Festival; as well as the highly-rated true crime dramas Murder In The Hamptons, The Pastor’s Wife, Honor Thy Mother, and Bitter Blood. In 2006, Freedman and Lutvak received both the Fred Ebb Award for songwriting and the Kleban Award for lyric writing for their work on the musicals A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder and Campaign of the Century. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Robert has B.A. in Theatre from UCLA and an M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing and Musical Theatre from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Robert is currently at work on a film for HBO and Sundance Films. He is married to actress Jean Kauffman, and they are the proud parents of Max Freedman, a writer and community activist living in Brooklyn. STEVEN LUTVAK (Music & Lyrics) made his Broadway debut with his score to A Gentleman’s Guide to Love And Murder, for which he supplied the music, and cowrote the lyrics with Robert L. Freedman. A Gentleman’s Guide won the Drama League, the Outer Critics Circle, the Drama Desk and the Tony Awards for Best Musical of 2014. Since its successful run of over two years on Broadway, there have been two National Tours (the second of which is currently on the road), and productions have already been seen in Sweden, Japan, and the first Chinese language production opens this December.

JAN NEUBERGER* (Miss Shingle/Woman 1) is a veteran actor of 46 years and counting. Broadway: original casts of Wicked, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Big, A Change in the Heir, and the first revival of Gypsy in 1974. Off-Broadway, regional and stock productions in abundance; Royal Albert and Carnegie Halls with Kristina by Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson of ABBA; a couple films and a smattering of TV, including the recent Hallmark Channel movie True Love Blooms, shot in St. Petersburg. MARCUS STEVENS* (D’Ysquith Family) is Thrilled to be making his Florida Rep debut! Marcus is a New York based theatre artist who has performed Off-Broadway in two incarnations of the critically acclaimed Forbidden Broadway series and can be heard on two of its original cast recordings. He’s been seen on stages across the country including The Walnut Street Theatre, Sacramento Music Circus, Riverside Theatre, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Pittsburgh CLO, and The Kennedy Center. Favorite roles include God in An Act of God, Sparky in Forever Plaid, and Motel in Fiddler on the Roof. In addition to acting, Marcus is a Richard Rodgers Award-winning theatre writer who has penned book and lyrics to several musicals including Yo, Vikings! (published by Samuel French, Inc.) and Mythic, which premiered in London in 2018 and received its North American premiere in Montreal October of 2019. Mythic also received an original London cast album, which is now available for streaming on Spotify and Apple Music. Marcus’s biggest production to date is his son Ari – created

His directing credits with Florida Rep include: the NNPN Rolling World Premiere of Alabaster, Million Dollar Quartet, Steel Magnolias, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, A Christmas Story, The Fantasticks, Tru, intern showcases [title of show], and The Shape of Things, as well as The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Curious George: The Golden Meatball, Miss Nelson is Missing, the world-premiere commission of Journey to Oz, Schoolhouse Rock Live, How I Became a Pirate, The New Kid, and The Mischief Makers for Florida Rep’s Theatre for Young Audience Series. Jason’s over 30 appearances on Florida Rep stages include Cabaret, How the Other Half Loves, Over the River and Through the Woods, The Dingdong, Twelve Angry Men, Around the World in 80 Days, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Clybourne Park, Greetings, Miracle on South Division Street, Noises Off, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, 2014’s nationally acclaimed production of Arsenic and Old Lace, and six years in David Sedaris’ one-manshow, The Santaland Diaries. Regionally he has been seen in Mary Poppins (Alabama Shakespeare Festival), Oliver (Pioneer Theatre Co.), Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia (Northern Stage), A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas (Hartford Stage Co.), and Lincoln in Love (Goodspeed Musicals –Festival of New Artists). He has assisted director Mark Waldrop on A Funny Thing… at Paper Mill Playhouse and The Sound of Music at the Olney Theatre Center. DAVID ARSENAULT*** (Set Designer) is a designer for theatre, opera, and environments based in New York City. His work Off-Broadway has been seen at Classic Stage Company, The Joyce, Prospect Theatre Company, The Play Company, Working Theatre, kef Productions, New Federal Theatre, The Westside Theatre, The Duke on 42nd Street, Theatre Row, and 59e59. Regionally, his work has been seen at The Kennedy Center, George Street Playhouse, Weston Playhouse, Northern Stage, Dorset Theatre Festival, Ogunquit Playhouse, Hangar Theatre, Berkshire Theatre Group, Florida Studio Theatre, John W. Engeman Theatre, Bucks County Playhouse, Hudson Stage Company, Geva Theatre Center, Kitchen Theatre Company, Gulfshore Playhouse, UrbanArias, Merry Go Round Playhouse, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, and Opera North. David has been John Doyle’s scenic associate on several productions including the NYC revivals of Sondheim’s Passion and Pacific Overtures, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Allegro, and the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of The Color Purple, as well as the national tour. Other work on Broadway includes the recent productions of Les Liaisons Dangereuses starring Liev Schreiber, King Charles III, Constellations starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson (all designed by Tom Scutt), and Disaster The Musical designed by Tobin Ost. Working with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, David has designed several productions of Broadway Bares, including the 25th Anniversary production directed by Jerry Mitchell and Nick Kenkel. As a design assistant, he has worked with designers Christopher Oram, Santo Loquasto, Andrew Jackness, Wilson Chin, Alexander Dodge and David Korins. David lives in Manhattan and has a BFA from Ithaca College. He is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829. CHARLENE GROSS*** (Costume Designer) is thrilled to return for her fifth season at Florida Rep. She is the Resident Costume Designer for Ohio Light Opera, where she has designed sets and costumes for over 55 productions. During the
academic year, Charlene is an Assistant Professor of Costume Design at Penn State. Her costume designs for theatre, dance, and opera have been seen on and off-Broadway in New York City, across the country, and on the West End of London. Theatre credits include the Cleveland Playhouse, Rattlestick Theatre, NYC Fringe Festival, The Flea, Eastman Opera Theatre, Merrimack Repertory, The Sands Casino (Atlantic City), Seattle Repertory Theatre, The Public Theater (NYC), The Ingenuity Festival, Cleveland Museum of Art, and The Manhattan Theatre Club. Designs for dance include GroundWorks, Joyce SoHo, The Yard, The Juilliard School, Dance Space, and Kunningham Studios. Charlene is a proud member of USA Local 829.. MATT KOLLER (Drums) is thrilled to be returning to the Florida Rep! This season he appeared as the drummer in Always... Patsy Cline. Matt is the founder and conductor of the City of Palms Youth Choir in Fort Myers, FL. Choirs under his direction have performed several masterworks, world premieres, and have appeared in Carnegie Hall. He has conducted at Florida Gulf Coast University Opera, Gulfshore Opera, and teaches private voice lessons. His students have appeared in lead roles on Broadway, national tours, television, and film. He is a graduate of Westminster Choir College and is a member of The Same Stream Choir in Philadelphia. CLIFTON LEWIS (Violin) is an actor/musician. He holds a Master’s Degree in Music from the New England Conservatory in Boston. He has played with the Missoula Symphony and the Bergen Philharmonic, along with pit orchestras in northern New Jersey. Recently, as an actor, he had a small role in the final s eason o f T he D euce on HBO. He enjoys performing with his wife Victoria Casella in Vicki & Clif, Act II, a cabaret act. KATIE LOWE (Sound Designer/Engineer) served as resident sound designer last season at Florida Repertory Theatre. Previously, she has been an electrics intern at Florida Repertory Theatre and sound apprentice at Endstation Theatre Company after graduating from the University of Kentucky. He has premiered dozens of works for clarinet and bass clarinet with ensembles such as the New Juilliard Ensemble, Ensemble Mise-en, Tactus, and Analog Arts Ensemble. His festival appearances include the Sarasota Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, NYC Electro Acoustic Music Festival, Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, and the Montreal Nouvelles Musiques Festival. He has also performed both in the pit and on stage as a klezmer soloist on the off-Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish. Aside from performing, David is also a passionate educator and has been a Teaching Artist with the CUNY Harmony Program and Midori and Friends. He holds degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and Queens College where he studied with Charles Neidich. JANINE WOCHNA*† (Stage Manager) is an ensemble member having most previously stagemanaged Ken Lugwig’s A Fox on the Fairway, Hay Fever, A Christmas Carol: The Tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, Steel Magnolias, and many others over 15 seasons. Regional theatre credits include The Man of La Mancha and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf at Triad Stage, four seasons as Resident Stage Manager at the Geva Theatre, and 14 seasons at the Cleveland Play House. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association.

Her performance credits include Judy Turner in A Chorus Line in Florida Rep’s Conservatory Production, Marie in Wellesley Girl and Polina in The Seagull at FSW, and Barblin in Andorra at the Laboratory Theater of Florida. She is a recent double-lung transplant survivor and is living each day to the fullest by working toward her bachelor’s degree and continuing to work on theatrical projects that inspire her. RACHEL VAN PAMEL (Prod uction Assistant) is delighted to continue her work at Florida Rep with A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder. Earlier this season she worked on Barefoot in the Park and made her Florida Rep debut as Asst. Stage Manager for Always... Patsy Cline. Her regional theatre credits include two seasons with Trinity Shakespeare Festival in Fort Worth, Texas where she worked as Assistant Stage Manager on Measure for Measure, Richard III and Twelfth Night. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from the University of Dallas where she studied stage management. While she stage managed many shows throughout college, her favorite University Theatre credits include The Cherry Orchard and The Skin of Our Teeth. KEIFER MACDONALD (Artistic Associate) is a Canadian actor currently completing his MFA in Acting at the University of Florida. Favorite roles at UF include: Actor 1/White Man (We Are Proud to Present…), Charles Kean (Red Velvet), Aimwell (The Beaux’ Stratagem). He is excited to be an intern at Florida Rep for the last semester of his degree. He has enjoyed the learning experience of being involved with A Gentleman’s Guide… in addition to helping to produce the 2020 PlayLab Festival.
