Over the past few months, we have addressed our Conference finances and now it is time to focus on what God has called us to do. Before Jesus comes, there will be a revival of spiritual passion not seen since the days of the apostles.

We will prioritize the mission of this Church—preaching the gospel and seeing

God change lives. It begins with waiting like the disciples in the upper room, seeking the promise of the Holy Spirit. This was the top priority of those surveyed at the pre-sessions before the Constituency Meeting.

This will be our focus at Camp Meeting.

I believe the key to the future is to go back—back to making the main thing the main thing. This includes praying together for God’s work and our churches, pastors, schools, and teachers.

It involves recognizing that every member is a minister—using our spiritual gifts in service and acknowledging God’s ownership of everything—our time, talents, and money.

This focus will lead us to make sure that our churches are characterized as places of warm, loving fellowship. Pastors in this new mode of thinking will see one of their major responsibilities as raising up leaders and equipping them for ministry.

This was the way the Adventist Church started and is the way it will complete its task.

I invite you to re-consecrate your life to carrying forward God’s work with a renewed spiritual passion as we seek to hasten the coming of Jesus.

NEW CHURCH DISTRICTS AND PASTORAL ASSIGNMENTS RESTRUCTURING LEADS TO DISTRICT CHANGES

T

own Hall meetings were facilitated by Florida Conference Administration at six locations throughout Florida during March.

Members had the opportunity to dialogue with administration regarding the financial picture of the Conference and areas of concern for their local church.

Topics discussed included the loss of tithe income and excessive health care costs, which resulted in the need to cut back personnel, and the criteria used to determine why and who was impacted by the reduction in personnel.

With the rearrangement of department responsibilities in the Conference, ministerial department duties have also changed. In addition to the primary work of supporting and equipping pastors, we will now work with pastors and churches in the areas of church growth, natural church development, and church planting.

Recently, the Conference administrators, along with our field secretaries and myself, outlined a vision for ourselves. Our goal is to develop a new paradigm of church life and ministry that glorifies God by: • Modeling Jesus’ passion for people.

• Empowering every member as a minister.

• Creating warm, caring church communities.

• Building healthy congregations.

• Fostering creativity.

• Discipling believers into maturity in Christ.

• Inspiring passionate spirituality.

• Equipping for effective leadership in ministry.

Thirsty hearts will have their souls satisfied.

One occasion when we may have a taste of this experience is Camp Meeting. This is especially true for those who are able to attend the entire week, and I hope you have this opportunity. During English-language Camp Meeting, there will be more than a dozen inspirational and helpful seminars Monday–Friday. I will personally be leading a time of prayer and praise each morning at 8 a.m. Thursday, 5–7 p.m. in the Boys’ Dorm Chapel, there will be a time of prayer for special needs. There will also be many times of inspiration and instruction during Spanish-language Camp Meeting, June 16–20 at the Miami Fair Expo Center.

Please pray that the Lord will be able to break through and that there will be nothing ordinary about these events.

Speaking of Camp Meeting, Ellen White urged, “We need to meet together and receive the divine touch….” Christian Service, p. 194. Jesus wants to touch our lives during this summer’s meetings. I’m eagerly looking forward to these times of refreshment for you and your family.

he Adventist Book Center Bookmobile is back in service after an accident that sidelined the Florida Conference traveling ministry.

Fred Neigel, Bookmobile manager and driver, felt the hand of God after a motorist turned into his lane. “A few more inches and the driver of the other car would have been hit directly,” says Neigel.

“I know God was watching over us.”

education/career decisions, and make better life-partner choices if, someday, they choose to marry.
