The 2022-23 Fair season is in our rear-view mirror and what a season it was! As we head off into the summer, we should reflect on all the memories that were made by Floridians as they visited fairs across the state and what a great impact all our fairs have on their communities. At this time, fall fairs are making plans for their upcoming fairs that will take place from September through November.
We wish all the associate members the best as they travel to fairs across the country.
The 2023 Florida Federation of Fairs & Zone 2 Convention was a great success with nearly 550 attendees coming together to discuss fair issues, have fun, and socialize before we part for the summer months. A special “Thank You” goes to all our sponsors for making our convention one of the best in the country. I think the theme for this year’s convention says it all “The Greatest Fairs on Earth”. When we all work together promoting our fairs and the industry we love, it makes the theme come to life. With the success of the Giles Ellis Memorial “Fun Shoot”, the YPI Axe Throwing event, and having Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson as our keynote speaker, the convention was jam-packed with great information for the fairs to take back to their boards. The 2024 Convention will again take place at the Caribe Royale in Orlando on May 16-18. Make sure to add that to your calendar. If you have topic ideas for the 2024 convention, please send those to me so we can add them to our list.
The 2023 FFF Summer Workshop will take place in Inverness, Florida on August 18th and 19th . The twoday workshop is being hosted by the Citrus County Fair and our new FFF President, Mr. Hal Porter. Information for this event is included in this issue of the newsletter as well as information on the Fall Fair Trip where we will be heading to The Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Please make plans to attend these two events with our delegation.
Thank you all for the dedication you have given to the fair industry of Florida I trust each and everyone will have a great and safe summer as you travel the country.
