Founded in 2019 and organized by the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Foundation in collaboration with the Centro Studi Luciano Berio, the “Luciano Berio” International Composition Competition is the expression of a wide partnership of orchestras and institutions which combine their efforts to actively promote contemporary music and support young composers, including Filarmonica della Scala Orchestra Association, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, RAI National Symphonic Orchestra, Universal Edition (UE), SIAE and Boris Christoff Foundation. The Winner receives a cash prize and a commission to compose a piece that will be performed in the concert seasons of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and those of the partner orchestras. The Competition is presented every three years.
