The "Girolamo Fantini" International Trumpet Competition in Rome was founded by Edda Silvestri, CEO of the Aimart Music Academy in Rome and Giuliano Sommerhalder, international trumpet soloist and Principal Trumpet of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva. It was held twice, in 2017 and 2019. Its distinctive mark is a second round that promotes versatility, allowing competitors to choose between orchestral excerpts, baroque trumpet, jazz or “freestyle” (including mainstream solo repertoire).
