Founded in 1947 by Monza born pianist Rina Sala Gallo and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, in 1970 the competition became a biennial event and is today considered among Monza’s most prestigious cultural occurrences.

The competition’s Jury features preeminent pianists with the most accredited pedigrees. Among the past edition winners, some of the pianists we now can hear in the world’s most important halls such as Angela Hewitt, Maria Perrotta, Mateusz Borowiak, Massimiliano Ferrati, Michail Lifits, Sofya Gulyak, Scipione Sangiovanni, Fiorenzo Pascalucci, and Young Sun Choi.
