Chairman’s Foreword I am delighted to welcome our distinguished guests to the 2009 Breeding and Racing Gala Awards Dinner. The Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association is an all Ireland body focusing on breeding Quality Horses for owners and trainers. Once again the Northern Region has excelled especially in the National Hunt field, with Brave Inca, Barker, Weapons Amnesty, Go Native and Aran Concerto, all winning Grade 1 races. We also had Colin McBratney training Ballyholland to win the Grade A William Hill Galway Plate. James Lambe was the leading N I trainer and Colin McKeever the leading point to point handler. Our pointers also had great success both with in Ireland and in Great Britian. Winners under the Rules of Racing compared well with previous years, despite testing ground conditions. The industry is going through challenging times. However as long as we focus on good pedigrees, good coverings, good preparation followed by good training, we will produce the quality stock like those we are honouring today. The Breeding and Racing Industry is a significant contributor to the Irish and especially to the Northern Irish economy. To this end I would like to thank our corporate supporters and our politicians. I would also like to thank all our sponsors for contributing to this exciting evening.

ITBA(NR) POINT TO POINT WINNERS (IRELAND) (2008-2009) JAMADIEL He won 5 and placed once at a number of venues, Tinahely, Ballydarragh three times and West Curragh-Naul. He was handled by S. Slevin and ridden by M.T. Slevin.Jamadiel continued his good runs by winning the Frank Magee Memorial Handicap Chase at Downpatrick after being 2nd also at Downpatrick and Tramore. He was bred by Thomas Craig. ROSS AN RI Handled by D.M.Christie won 3 times Three Pigeons and then on successive days at Necarne. He was also placed 5 times and bred by Mrs Elaine Waterson.

Dragon Hounds and Oxford University Hunts Club. He also won at Kimble again run by Vale of Aylesbury & Garth & South Berks. He was bred by Mrs B Collins.
