Welcome Founded in 1995 by pharmacist Ronnie Lennon, Vivomed has developed the role of sports medicine supplier as an integral part of the Sports Medicine Team. This catalogue should therefore be considered as a guide or an introduction. We operate as part of a wider group of companies, which include pharmacy and first-aid, and can therefore source and advise on many aspects of sports science and medicine. We believe it is crucially important to develop problem-solving relationships with clubs, and sports medicine practitioners. We can however supply a complete range of physiotherapy equipment. At Vivomed our aim is to provide a comprehensive professional service for your Sports Medicine Team. For orders under £100, carriage will be charged at £5.00+VAT. Postage and Packaging on small items will be charged at a minimum of £2.50+VAT. The Kinesiology Taping method was created by Dr Kenzo Kase in the late 1970’s. In an attempt to optimize his treatment of injuries and acute and chronic illnesses, he experimented with traditional tapes and techniques, but found them limited in their applications. Fundamental to Dr Kase's development of the Taping technique was the study of the muscles and skin. Dr Kase was intriqued by the skin and its function as the body's largest reflex organ. He was also able to see that the muscles not only reacted to environmental changes, but also theorised in their ability to support the body's own healing and regeneration processes. The muscles, therefore, not only make movement possible, but also effect microcirculation, neuromuscular transmission, etc. Using the skin as the model Dr Kase endeavoured to create a material which would augment the skin's capacity to transmit stimulating and healing information via the skin's many receptors. He collaborated with the huge Japanese company Nitto Denko to create the tape which was called Kinesio Tape. The tape had a number of unique qualitities not seen before in existing tapes. The medical grade acrylic adhesive for example is applied as a wave to allow the skin to breathe and to help the circulation of sweat and air. This wave pattern was patented in Japan by Nitto Denko. In December 2006 European practitioners founded K-Active Europe, and the European method of teaching was established. Vivomed has been at the forefront of educating UK and Irish therapists for more than 5 years and we have worked with most of the top European instructors such as Professor Zbigniew Sliwinski, Siggi Breitenbach, Denis Kraus and Arndt Fengler. We believe it is now time to create a UK and Ireland based teaching and research structure to ensure that the development of Kinesiology Taping progresses with an appropriate level of scientific investigation. To that end, Vivomed has been working with Professor Jeremy Lewis from London’s Chelsea and Westminster hospital to design and implement research programs investigating Kinesiology Taping techniques. This group we have called KTREG (Kinesiology Taping Research and Education Group). med For many years, Push ortho Aequi has proven its value amongst doctors and patients. Now, Push med Aequi flex has been added to the Push med profile assortment. The patented principle of a medial anchor as a reinforced shell in combination with a nonelastic strap has obviously been kept in the newly designed Aequi flex. Where Push ortho Aequi is particularly efficient for durable use in case of chronic instability or in sports, Push Aequi flex is very distinctive in its added flexibility and pressure in the entire affected area. The brace has an enlarged flexible shell covering the injury to assure evenly distributed compression. The Aequi flex is very effective in case of treatment of acute ankle injuries. The functional strap can easily be brought into position following the level of swelling in the (sub) acute phase. Additional compression to the joint can be provided by adjusting two elastic straps individually. As a result, the inversion and eversion movement is properly restricted, while an adequate freedom of plantar/dorsal flexion is allowed. This means that during walking, normal movement patterns of the foot are not inhibited. The use of flexible materials guarantees optimal fit and comfort for the user.

The Push Med Shoulder Brace fixes the upper and lower arm in position during the treatment of shoulder injuries. The position of the shoulder brace can be selected in such a way as to fix the arm in a neutral position or at a slight adduction. The position can be changed easily by turning the chest band slightly. If adduction limitation is required only, the wrist fixing element can be removed. A separate band is slipped around the middle of the hand, thus supporting the hand in order to prevent hanging. As the brace closes around the chest, the neck and shoulder regions remain unstressed. ortho The Push Aequi is an effective ankle orthosis which strikes a balance between efficient mechanical support of a disabled ankle and good wearer comfort. The rigid support is situated exclusively on the medial side of the ankle and has a cavity for the malleolus. The lateral side is made from preformed foam, which easily adapts to the individual anatomy. The orthosis is fastened by means of a diagonal strap. The elastic straps apply pressure around the ankle. The Push Aequi can be used in the functional treatment of ankle injuries and as a long-term support in cases of chronic ankle instability. Inversion/eversion movement is restricted while plantar/dorsal flexion allows adequate freedom. This means that no inhibition is felt during normal walking and running. The Push Aequi is worn over the sock, and optimal stabilisation can only be achieved if it is worn with a closed (laced-up) shoe.
