Confetti is a lightweight construction of circles in a playful palette in shades – a kinetic sculpture that moves with the slightest breeze. Transparent tracing paper mounted directly on thin steel rods creates a vibrant and light expression. Originally confetti are small pieces of paper thrown for great moments and celebrations as a symbol of joy and happiness. The Confetti mobile is our attempt to capture such a colourful and festive confetti moment and bring into your home.

Our first mobile was created in 1953 by Christian and Grethe Flensted. It was “The Danish Lucky Storks” which was a great success and they still fly all over the world.
Christian became known as the “Uromager”, a name impossible to translate into English, which means a
“maker of mischievous things that are always on the move”. The title fitted well with his ability to create beautiful classic designs, as well as fun and unique mobiles that could create movement and balance.
A Flensted mobile is handmade in Denmark with a perfect combination of love, dedication and quality, bringing a unique design into your home – and helping you to unwind at the same time!
Flensted Mobiles is now a family business through three generations; Grethe & Christian Flensted stood at the helm for 28 years, before their son Ole and his wife
Aase took over in 1982 – they ran the company for 35 years.
In 2017, on Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday (the 2nd of April) the business was handed over to the third generation mobilemaker, Aase and Ole’s daughter, Christine Kit Flensted.

WHERE DO THE MOBILES COME FROM?
The Mobile Centre is situated in the midst of picturesque countryside on the beautiful island of Funen in Denmark.
With woods and open fields as our closest neighbours and 2 miles to the coast we work at “Frederiksminde”, the romantic former village school, that you are always welcome to visit. In our showroom you can take a closer look at our more than 200 mobiles. We are quite sure you will find something to your liking.
COPENHAGEN
Flensted Mobiles also resides in our beautiful capital Copenhagen. We have an office in the center of town and you can find a breathtaking view of ”The Mobile Wall” at the National Gallery of Denmark.

THE FLENSTED TEAM
Flensted Mobiles is a family company a little bit out of the ordinary. We are fortunate to have a very skillful team, not only in Denmark, but also around the world; through the shops selling our mobiles and our agents and wholesalers. We even have several people in our team that has worked with us for 15, 20 and 40 years!

HANDMADE IN DENMARK
A SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION
A Flensted mobile is not only designed in Denmark: It is handmade in Denmark, assembled by our 60 homeworkers spread over Funen – the island of Hans Christian Andersen.
Assembling the stork mobiles by themselves, Christian and Grethe could not keep up with the demand, so they started asking their neighbours for help in assembling the mobiles and that’s how the concept of Flensted homeworkers was born. Today more than 60 homeworkers are employed to assemble the handmade movement and balance.
WHAT IS A HOMEWORKER?
Instead of 60 people driving to a factory every day to assemble mobiles, they work from their own homes. Every two weeks, we visit all our homeworkers, to give them supplies for new mobiles in exchange for assembled mobiles that are packed and ready to ship. We have been using this production method for over 60 years. It saves more than 15 tons of fuel every year.
RESPONSIBILITY IN PRODUCTION
The philosophy in our product design and manufacturing process is to focus on a combination of aesthetics, ethics and durability. We strive to use the best quality materials possible, to help ensure that our mobiles can pass as heirlooms from generation to generation. It is our policy to design and produce all mobiles as environment-friendly as possible, within the above framework. We strive to improve this, both in our family and our business every day.
CAUSES WE SUPPORT
Over the years, we have donated time and mobiles to social projects, institutions and to a variety of different events. Nationally, we feel a similar responsibility which is why we have participated in projects with e.g. Amnesty International. For example: When a Cyclephants mobile sold, a donation is made to Save the Children.

HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN MOBILES BY FLENSTED MOBILES
HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN AND THE FLENSTEDS
Before the Flensted family became makers of mobiles, they were publishers, and published the works of Hans Christian Andersen in many languages.
If you have an old Hans Christian Andersen book on your bookshelf, it might be from Flensted’s Publishing House. As well as telling tales and fables, Hans Christian Andersen also made paper cutouts, for adults and children alike.
It is said that he always carried a large pair of scissors, 24 cm long, when he went to dinner parties. In the middle of a conversation, he would produce the scissors, fold a piece of paper and move it deftly through the scissors’ jaws. Hans Christian Andersen created around 1500 paper cutouts.
Between 1980 and 2003, Christian and Grethe Flensted ran a shop only metres away from Andersen’s house in Odense. After 1982, it became a Flensted tradition to publish a cutout each year. The cutouts are mounted on a thread and supplied with an envelope and a greetings card with a portrait of Hans Christian Andersen. They make an original greetings card or can be used to decorate your Christmas tree.

FLENSTED ACCESSORIES

DID YOU KNOW...?
We are a family company, now in its third generation. The present owner, Christine Kit Flensted, is the grand-daughter of the founder of the company.
All of our mobiles are handmade in Denmark, by more than 60 home-workers who live on the island of Funen.
Christian Flensted founded Flensted Mobiles in 1953, so we have practiced the art of making mobiles for a very long time.
We have around 200 mobiles in our collection, so there is a design to appeal to everyone and to suit any room in the house.
Our mobiles often become heirlooms, passed from generation to generation.
Our mobiles move, which is something not all mobiles do.
One of our reasons for making mobiles is to bring movement into your home, where most things stand still (besides the wick of a candle or the hand of a clock).
