You can vote for up to (4) four candidates. A valid ballot is one that is properly marked. Any ballot not marked correctly, or contains votes for more candidates than positions available, hand written additives, or any part of said ballot is not legible will be INVALID. This will be at the sole determination of the election committee. If you vote for a candidate by mistake DO NOT cross off the candidates name. Take the ballot that is marked wrong back to the registration desk, turn it in, and you will be given a new ballot. Any resident that needs a limited proxy to vote because they won’t be here for the November election can contact Peggy Madison, Secretary, at 807-7525 and she will be glad to get one to you. Sign and date your limited proxy and vote for 1, 2, 3 or 4 candidate(s) of your choice on the ballot. (DO NOT vote for more than 4 names on the ballot.) Return the limited proxy ballot and ballot to Peggy Madison, put it in the locked box in the clubhouse by 5 PM on Saturday
A Reminder for the Upcoming November 3, 2014 Election of Directors (Cont.) Saturday, November 1, 2014, or give it to a member of the election committee. Be sure to sign the back of the envelope. We urge all members to attend the meeting or obtain a proxy so we can have a quorum which is needed to go forward with the election. The proxies will be available after the October 6, 2014 meeting. Your election committee members consists of the following residents: Bob Pickles, Les Baker, Frank Parnell, Rich LeLievre, Ed Nadeau, Susan Chafin, Jean & Mario Cellini. Membership Dues Your Treasurer Gene Brooks, will be in the clubhouse on Wednesdays 9/3, 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22 from noon to 2:30 PM to take your dues and punch your membership card. Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee is glad to announce that we now have six nominees for the four positions available on the Board of Directors. The following are the nominees and a little bit about them: Beverly Murphy moved to Florida in 1981. She is originally from New York. She moved to Grand Valley in January, 2006. Mary Jane Sellers is from Chicago and moved to Florida in 2011. Cis Warren has been a resident of Grand Valley for 18 years. Gene Brooks is a resident of Grand Valley. Dick Heinzenberger is originally from New York and has lived in Grand Valley for 12 years. Jerry Klein is originally from New Jersey and has been a resident of Florida since 1972. He has lived in Grand Valley 14 years. In the next Newsletter, there will be more information about the nominees past experiences with civic and homeowners associations.. If anyone plans on being nominated from the floor at the November meeting, it is suggested that you contact the Nominating Committee beforehand. There is certain criteria that has to be checked for your eligibility. That criteria as written in the bylaws is as follows: You must be a resident of Grand Valley and a member in good standing. Proof of residency in Florida must be shown by your voter registration.

Nominating Committee (Cont’d) You must reside in Grand Valley for six months and one day each year. So please, if you are going to be nominated from the floor at the November meeting, please have your voter registration with you so as not to make the meeting any longer than necessary. And again, it cannot be expressed enough, please vote. This is a very important election and every vote counts. Thank you. Ice Cream Social We had 62 people at our summer ice cream social. With four types of ice cream, tons of topping, everyone seemed to have enough to eat and had a great time. Labor Day Pool Party Don’t forget the pool party and cookout Monday, September 1st at 1 pm. Burgers and hot dogs will be provided, bring a dish to share. Bring snacks to share and your drinks. No glass please. Pot Luck Saturday, September 20th 5 PM Pot Luck Dinner. Sign up sheet is in the club house. Bring your own beverage and a dish to share that will serve 8 or more.

Red Hats Movie Day Red Hat movie day will be the fourth Friday of September (the 26th), with lunch either before or after depending on what time the movie starts. Please call Sis Pickles @727-236-5686 if you are planning to go. We will select the movie closer to the date. Red Hatters Thanks to Connie for her event this month. We all enjoyed it. Looking forward to Joan and Jean next month. Men’s Lunch The Men’s Lunch for September will be 12:30 PM on Tuesday, September 9th, at Applebee’s. There will be a sign-up sheet in the clubhouse. Ladies Lunch Thanks to all the ladies for coming to our lunch at Harold Seltzers on August 12th, We had a good lunch, the food was delicious. Also, there is NO PARKING ON THE GRASS. Please remind your guests to have all four wheels on the street at all times.

Can Tabs for Shriners Hospital Keeping CAN TABS is a great way to help the children in any of the Shriners Hospitals and at the same time promote recycling. Please continue to turn your tabs in to Al Krueger at 8045 Monitor or to Connie in the office. Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing. Have you noticed since everyone has a cell phone these days no one talks about seeing UFOs like they used to? Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again. All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Wednesday Night Co-ed Poker Co-ed Wednesday night straight poker every Wednesday night from 6 to 9 PM. By straight poker, we mean NO WILD CARDS. Any questions, call Don Pickles @ 2365686. Trash & Recycling Trash collection will be on Monday and Thursday, Recycle days will be on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. Please recycle bottles, glass, cans and plastic containers with a number 1-7 in a triangle on the bottom. You can use a blue bag or a marked recycle container. For recycling YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE BLUE BAGS. Any container that’s marked “recycle” will be picked up the 2ND AND 4TH WEDNESDAY of each month. Newspapers can be taken next door to the government building for recycling. Bingo Bingo will be starting up on Tuesday, September 6 at 6:45 PM. For more information call Annette Gill @ 727-8171520.
