MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT I am wishing everyone a safe and Happy 4th of July. Please complete the “Directory Update” located in this newsletter and submit it by July 15th so we can provide you with an updated Grand Valley Directory. On July 14th we will have a guest speaker and the topic will be “Financial Assistance For Seniors”. This is the first of a 2 part series to assist seniors. In the fall, SHINE (partners with Medicare and AAA) will be speaking on Medicare 101, open enrollment and supplemental insurance. A deco mesh wreath making class and a wine tasting event have been booked for July. Details follow later in the newsletter. We are looking for help from the community. As you know, the Nadeaus are stepping down as of October as the Social Committee Chairpersons. They have provided us with quality entertainment and special events throughout the year. We need someone, or a team, to take over beginning in October. Training will be provided for you. If you have any ideas for new activities, events, guest speakers or entertainment, please don’t be shy. Share them with the Social Committee or Board member. We have a lot of talented residents and we would love to have you share or teach us the basics of what your special gift is. We need volunteers to work on a By-Law Committee. By-Laws should be reviewed and consistent with statute. Please see any Board member to serve on this committee. Denise Kingsbury, President
FROM THE EDITOR All items must be given to Connie by the 20th of the month. ALL NEWSLETTERS WILL BE HAND DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME. They can be emailed to snowbirds if you let me know when you leave and when you are to return. If you prefer a mailed copy, just provide self addressed and stamped envelopes for the months you will be away. FROM MANAGEMENT We hope everyone is having a great summer and is staying cool. Just a few reminders to keep our community happy: 1) When leaving the pool area, please remember to close the umbrellas, so they don’t blow away in heavy winds, 2) Feeding cats is prohibited. If you feed a cat, IT’S YOURS! You must then abide by our pet policy. Cats must be indoor and only outside when you have them on a leash. 3) Street Parking is allowed for no more than six hours. If you need to load or unload an RV or a trailer, you are allowed 24 hours. Please plan accordingly. Lastly, and importantly...If you have an issue that can’t wait until business hours please call my cell 727-243-5336. Please DO NOT call Connie Cote, as it is not her responsibility. SUNDAY BRUNCH
BEAD CLASS Laura’s Beads will be teaching a class on bead making. We will be making a bracelet. If you’ve never attended a class at Laura’s, the first class is FREE. Supplies to make the bracelet will cost between $15 and $20. Save money by sharing supplies. There is room for 6 to 10 students. See the sign up sheet in the clubhouse. Deadline to sign up is July 1st. Thank you, Patty Pickles, for getting us started with this project.
SHINE On July 14th at 10am we will have a guest speaker from SHINE telling us about Financial Assistance for Seniors. Immediately following, a representative from Brookdale will tell us everything we want or need to know about Independent Living and Assisted Living. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
Everyone is welcome. Come to Sunday Brunch on July 8th at 10am at the pavilion. Bring a breakfast item to share. Visit with your friends and neighbors. Stay as long as you want. Hope to see you there.

WREATH MAKING Patty Pickles will be teaching deco mesh wreath making on July 22nd at 2pm in the clubhouse. Please meet at the clubhouse on July 15th to sign up for the class and get a list of required items to make your special wreath. Hopefully, in late fall, we can schedule time to make a lit deco mesh Christmas wreath.
WITH SYMPATHY Our sympathies were sent to the family of Bill Baker, to Darlene Drake at the passing of her brother and to Beth Giannone at the passing of her husband Tom.
Grand Valley will be hosting a Craft Show on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the clubhouse from 10am to 3pm. Vendors/Crafters are needed. If you are a Grand Valley resident, space rental is $20.00. Non Grand Valley resident crafters, space rental is $30.00. Your friends and family are welcome to participate in our Craft Show. Any Grand Valley group of crafters wanting space, please contact me for further information. Items must be handmade, no commercial items. Weather permitting, outside space will be available as well at the same price. There are so many talented crafters in our community! This is an opportunity to showcase and sell your beautiful crafts. Please contact me for an application. All applications must be received by September 8, 2018. There will also be a bake sale. So, calling all you bakers out there, start planning on baking your delicious items to be sold at the craft show. We are in need of volunteers to run the bake sale. Please contact me to volunteer. We will also have food available for purchase. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips, Soda, and water. Sallie Goodrow has volunteered to run the kitchen. Sallie is in need of volunteers to assist her. The first book for Book Club will Be “Two By Two, by Nicholas Sparks. I found it at Publix for $8.99. We will plan our first meeting after everyone has the book.
CARDS MAKING/PAPER CRAFTING This group meets every Wednesday from 1 to 3pm in the clubhouse. All crafters are welcome, from beginners to more advanced. If you have always thought you would like to give card making a try, but don't know where to begin, or having been doing this on your own for years, we would love for you to come and join us. WINE TASTING On July 20th at 6:30pm there will be a community wine tasting event in our clubhouse. Please bring a bottle (or two) of your favorite wine for sampling. Come and enjoy an evening of fine wine and great neighbors.

It’s so much fun watching people finding rocks and seeing a smile on their face.
