FROM THE PRESIDENT ELECT Happy New Year! 2018 promises to be an exciting year for all of us. The beginning of a new HOA Board and the beginning of a new year. I look forward to working with the new Board and the residents of Grand Valley on this new adventure. From the time I was a child growing up in Chicopee, MA, the importance of community was prevalent in my life. I was brought up in a lower middle income neighborhood of approximately 150 homes. I remember neighbors gathering together as a community neighborhood to entertain, socialize, strengthen friendships and help neighbors in need. It didn’t matter what religion anyone was associated with or what their financial status was or what nationality they were. They could depend and rely on one another, have fun, enjoy and embrace life. They understood the importance of community. We all worked hard to achieve, hopefully, the same goal, retirement, fun, relaxation and to enjoy life to the fullest. My goal is to have you
is to have you all become part of the Grand Valley HOA family, enjoy the activities that are offered and enjoy your retirement. It is my intent and goal to serve this community to the best of my ability. As with any community, Grand Valley is most successful when we come together as a community. This is our Association, our community, and it would be in our best interest to succeed. It is important to all of us to make the HOA one that works for everyone in the community in a way that is fair and transparent. I would like to thank everyone for the continued support and patience. I appreciate any feedback and welcome your ideas, thoughts, and suggestions. I want to encourage each resident to be involved as much as you can be. This is a great way to meet your neighbors while building a strong community. I am honored to serve you as your President and I look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood. FROM MANAGEMENT For those who are using the fire pit, please be sure the fire is completely out (it has been left burning on three occasions). Please remember there is NO PARKING OVERNIGHT ON THE STREETS (motor homes ok one night to load and again one night to unload). Please remind your guests that parking on the grass can damage your sprinkler system and is not allowed.

CARDS MAKING/PAPER CRAFTING This group meets every Wednesday from 1 to 3pm in the clubhouse. All crafters are welcome, from beginners to more advanced. If you have always thought you would like to give card making a try, but don't know where to begin, or having been doing this on your own for years, we would love for you to come and join us. A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO DEPARTING HOA BOARD MEMBERS The new HOA Board would like to express a special “thank you” to the departing HOA Board. Their years of service on the Board have been from one to several, their years of serving on committees immeasurable, and the hours spent completing their duties, incomprehensible. We have been very fortunate to have such leaders serving our community, volunteering their time to maintain and improve this Association.

All are welcome to join in the fun. The courts are always open to all residents who wish to play whether it is a solo couple, team or teams.

“YOUR HOLIDAY GREETINGS ALL CHRISTMAS CARDS MUST BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN 12/30/17.
Each week one ticket will be drawn over a period of 20 weeks. The winning ticket will receive $20. The winning ticket will not go back in the drawing until the end of the 20 weeks. There will be a luncheon at the end of the 20 weeks paid for by the 20/20. Guests will have to pay for their meal if they wish to attend. Any money remaining after the luncheon is paid for will be given out as door prizes during the luncheon. All tickets will go back in the drawing at this time. Tickets go on sale at the clubhouse on January 3rd at 6pm. First drawing will be January 10th at the clubhouse at 6pm. COST OF ONE TICKET IS $20. This is open to all residents of Grand Valley.

SOCIAL NEWS The Christmas dinner was a huge success. The beef prepared by Rich was as tasty as ever. There was a large assortment of desserts. They must have been good, judging by the lack of leftovers. This was one our biggest events. 108 tickets were purchased. Lucky door prize winners were Mark Nelson, Rosa Wensil, Marty Meehan, Jim Graig, Bette MacDonald, Fred Carpenters son, Joan Meager and Julie Nilson. The 33 1/3 drawing went to Joe Robinson and Chef Rich LeLievre.

On January 20th. we are trying something different, we have hired a ventriloquist. Dale Anderson will bring his “friends” to entertain us at 7:00 P.M.. Prior to his performance there will a spaghetti dinner at 5:00 P.M. The cost is $7.00 and tickets can be purchased at the office or from Ed & Jo Ann. In February, our senior prom will be held on the 10th. We have hired a new band for this dance. “Rising Stars” will provide us with all of our favorite tunes. The cost of this event is $7.00 and tickets can be purchased at the office and from Ed & Jo Ann. In March, a St. Patrick dinner will be held on the 17th. We are still looking to book some sort of entertainment for the evening. We cannot provide you with a Join us for “Happy Hour” at the pool Tuesdays at 2pm. cost because the prices of corn beef keep changing. Jo Ann and I would like to thank all of our friends that donated door prizes. They made the night special. P.S. We have booked “The Voices” for a return visit on April 14th. To say goodbye to our snowbirds.

GVROCKS return January 11th. A group of Grand Valley neighbors are getting together from 11am—1pm every Thursday morning to spread cheer and paint rocks to leave around our town and beyond. We have paint, brushes and rocks to share till you get a few supplies you may need. So come join us...Join the “NPR Rocks” group on Facebook. It’s so much fun watching people finding rocks and seeing a smile on their face. Might just change someone’s day for the better..isn’t that why we are here on this earth, to make our days good and to share that goodness with others! Rock On!
