FROM THE EDITOR All items must be given to Connie by the 20th of the month. If your submission is not received by the 20th it will not be in the next issue. I will not be calling everyone for a reminder. ALL NEWSLETTERS WILL BE HAND DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME. They can be emailed to snowbirds if you let me know when you leave and when you are to return. If you prefer a mailed copy, just provide self addressed and stamped envelopes for the months you will be away.

FROM MANAGEMENT Our offices will be closed Christmas Day to allow our employees well deserved family time. We will reopen Wednesday 12/26 at 9:30am and closed again New Years Day reopening 1/2/19.

QUILT RAFFLE

Quilt Raffle The Grand Valley Quilters are pleased to announce that they are raffling off three beautiful handmade quilts! The raffle will run from November 1st thru December 31st.

Raffle tickets are available at the office.

Raffle tickets are also available from Nancy Crofoot. You are welcome to call Nancy and she will come to your home with raffle tickets. Nancy can be reached at 203-4604314. Raffle tickets will also be sold at every event and the monthly General Membership HOA Meeting. This raffle is open to Grand Valley residents, their families and friends. Please show your support to the quilters for all their hard work! The office and Nancy have pictures of each quilt and you can see them in person at an event or meeting.

The large quilt with the three different size borders measures 5’5” X 5’10”. Raffle tickets for this quilt are $10.00/ea.

The quilt with the 6” blocks, some embroidered, with the white border measures 59” X 45”. Raffle tickets for this quilt are $5.00/ea.

The quilt with the 12 flag blocks with the red border measures 59 ”X 52”. Raffle tickets for this quilt are $5.00/ea.

GRAND VALLEY CRAFT SHOW The Grand Valley Craft Show was held on Saturday, November 3rd. We had 20 vendors, nine of them being Grand Valley Crafters, displaying their beautiful handmade items. There were so many beautiful items, it was hard to choose which one to purchase. The vendors and Craft Show shoppers had a very successful day! Well, I knew the Grand Valley Bakers were great, however, AWESOME might be a better word. Thank you so very much for all your wonderful baked items. There was almost always a line at the Bake Sale table with people waiting to purchase their goodies. Thank you to Jo Ann and Ed Nadeau to keeping up with everyone. The hamburgers and hot dogs were delicious. Thank you to Chuck Evens, Bruce Hazen, Tom Ingalls and Joe Robinson for cooking up some delicious food. Julie Villani and Irene Robinson worked quickly to serve the food. Thank you ladies for a fine job. Jim and June Craig did a fantastic job “MC”ing the Craft Show as well as running the raffle table. Thank you both very much for your time and talents!! The Craft show had four “floaters” available to help our vendors with anything they needed. So grateful they were there to offer their assistance Thank you very much to Doreen Davis, Nancy Hazen, Carol McKenna and Jean Warmerdam for pitching in when ever needed. A huge THANK YOU to all who helped to set up and clean up. There were so many wonderful people who participated. I am not mentioning names for fear I might forget someone.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! For without your help the Craft Show would not have been a success.

CARDS MAKING & CRAFTS This group meets every Wednesday from 1 to 3pm in the clubhouse. All crafters are welcome, from beginners to more advanced.

Connie Cote 727/741-5853 VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION Our 2018 Veterans Day Celebration, hosted by the GV Quilters and the GV Social Committee and it’s volunteers, was held on Saturday, November 10th. We had 17 Veterans in attendance, along with family and friends. It couldn’t have been a more perfect day! Our guest speaker, Randy Holeyfield, District 15 Vice Commander from the American Legion Post 108, delivered a heartfelt message. Donations were received in the amount of $190, which is being given to St. Vincent DePaul Cares for Pasco County Homeless Veterans. There are so many people to thank for making our celebration so special!! Thank you to Lou Kingsbury for providing the music used during our program.

Thank you to Boni Wilson Skinner (Bette MacDonald’s cousin) for donating the beautiful military prints from her painting titled “U.S.Hero”, which were given to each veteran. Thank you to the GV Quilters for their love and hard work in making the 15 beautiful patriotic quilts and pillows for the drawings. Thank you to our wonderful “kitchen crew” for cooking and serving our delicious lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, cole slaw and baked beans….Chuck & Suzie Evens, Joe & Irene Robinson, Terry & Betty White and Nancy Hazen. Thank you to Frank Parnell for giving the blessing. Thank you to the Quilters and the Social Committee for decorating the clubhouse in the red, white and blue theme. And, above all, THANK YOU to all of our Grand Valley Veterans who served our country with dignity and honor. We are forever in your debt.

EUCHRE Euchre is played every Thursday in the clubhouse. We start approximately at 6:45pm. It’s an easy game to learn and we have many “teachers” in our group. Everyone is welcome.

It’s Christmas time and time for thanks.

Please don’t forget Tori, our mail person and Rob Zagorsi, our trashman. They both work very hard for us throughout the year.

A woman comes in for a routine physical at the doctor’s office.

“Here,” says the nurse, handing her a urine specimen container.

“The bathroom is over there. The doctor will be with you shortly.” A few minutes later, the woman returns with an empty container and a relieved look on her face.

“Thanks! But they had a toilet in there, so I didn’t need this after all.”

I want to thank everyone who helped me gather food items for the needy and homeless. We seem to always come together when needed.. Please see the letter received from the First Baptist Church (on next page). Thanks, Susan Chafin
