From the President As the month of July comes to an end. The 1st Annual Board of Directors cookout was a great success – We had 120 guests in attendance. I would like to say thank you to my fellow board members for the help and support with this event. A special thank you to the ladies who helped cook all the corn: Ollie Parnell, Donna Parker, Debbie Hayward, Beverly Murphy and Mary Grimm. Also, a special thank you to Gene Brooks, Dennis Hayward and Ernie Warren for handling the heat and grill details. Also, a special thank you to my wife Rose for husking all that corn and the help she provided for this event. Again, thanks to all for attending and making this event a great success and fun for all. Street Parking

When parking in the street, even for a short period of time, please consider the driveway opposite your parking position. Getting out of with a car parked directly opposite a driveway can be made unreasonably tiresome. For the sake of moving your car around ten feet either way the problem is totally resolved. Thank you for your consideration.

Ice cream Social is coming up on Saturday, August 22nd at 3pm. Get your tickets from Connie at 8146 Mill Springs Dr, no later than August 14th in order to provide a count. Enjoy a sundae with friends on a hot afternoon. Everyone must have a ticket. FREE to paid members, $2 for non-members and guests
The Men’s Luncheon will be on August 11th at 12:30 at the Varsity Club, 3523 Little Road, New Port Richey. There is a sign-up sheet in the clubhouse. Pot Luck Dinner and Dance Saturday September 26th 6pm music by Bittersweet. The Pot Luck will be international with your heritage, something different. More to come next month. Tuesday afternoon cocktail party at the pool. All residents are invited with their guests. Bring your own beverage and snack to share, Bar-BQue grill is available for cooking. FLU SHOTS Walgreens will again be coming to Grand Valley to provide flu shots, high dose flu shots and pneumonia shots on Tuesday, November 10th at 10am. Shingle shots will be available with prior notice. A sign-up sheet is in the clubhouse to give Walgreens a count so they have enough immunizations. You’ll need a picture ID and your insurance cards. The flu shot is paid for by Medicare.
Our Troops Treats from Home, Inc. has received its nonprofit status and any donations will be tax deductible. With everyone’s help, the officers and other volunteers will continue our project of sending boxes to military personnel who are serving overseas. Ladies Lunch We had a wonderful lunch at Sorrento's Italian Restaurant on July 14th, on US 19 in Port Richey. The food was great, priced good and plentiful. It anyone would like a good Italian Restaurant I would recommend there. Our August 11th lunch will be at Lucky Dill, 33180 U.S. 19, Palm Harbor, at 1pm. Red Hats Red Hat Ladies got the info on the Christmas event at Hudson Show Palace. I know it’s not till December 3rd but, it came already asking for the money. The show this year is the Nutcracker. The price is the same as last year $48.00. I would like to start collecting money October 12th thru October 20th, so please mark your calendar. Susan

Changes to Florida Statute 723 (Continued from last month) Nomination for Election
Grand Valley is a community made up of many interesting people. Let's meet some of your friends and neighbors. The first person I would like to write about is Irwin Wagenfohr. He passed away recently but, what an interesting man. Most of us remember Irwin dancing with the ladies at our functions in the clubhouse. Irwin would sit at one of the tables with his wine and brandy, eating more food than anyone could believe. Being the oldest man in Grand Valley, he was king of the Christmas parade in 2014. A WWII veteran having served in the Navy, he was an American hero. Retiring from the Navy, he continued serving his country as a Nassau, County, New York policeman. Irwin was a man of few words, always friendly, a bit cantankerous and so very interesting to talk with.
All nominations from the floor must be made at a duly noticed meeting of the members held at least 30 days before the annual meeting. The bylaws shall provide the method for calling the meetings of the members, including annual meetings. The method shall provide at least 14 days’ written notice to each member in advance of the meeting and require the posting in a conspicuous place on the park property of a notice of the meeting at least 14 days prior to the meeting. The right to receive written notice of membership meetings may be waived in writing by a member. Unless waived, the notice of the annual meeting shall be mailed, hand delivered, or electronically transmitted to each member, and shall constitute notice.

Board Member Training
By now, many of you have already heard that after 24 years serving Grand Valley, I will no longer be working in the Grand Valley office. It is with great sadness that I leave my chair, but I guess it had to end sometime. Brenda Brady will be filling that chair immediately and I wish her well. I will continue with all my Association activities and duties. To verify a RUMOR, Phil and I are not moving out of the park. We’re here for the long run. Grand Valley is a GREAT place to live, with the best friends and neighbors ever. I’ll now be able to take part in the Ladies Luncheon and other activities that I couldn’t “get out of the office” for before. Also, some traveling in the future. As they say, “THE BEST IS YET TO COME”, and intend to make it that way.
Board member training programs.—Within 90 days after being elected or appointed to the board, a newly elected or appointed director shall certify by an affidavit in writing to the secretary of the association that he or she has read the association’s current articles of incorporation, bylaws, and the mobile home park’s prospectus, rental agreement, rules, regulations, and written policies; that he or she will work to uphold such documents and policies to the best of his or her ability; and that he or she will faithfully discharge his or her fiduciary responsibility to the association’s members.
